*** Updated 12-Jun-2015 : Published!  Get it here. ***

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thought I would give some teaser previews of something I'm working on.  Just an expansion of the undead into other racial types.  Always disliked that the skeletons and zombies were essentially human undead (half-elf and maybe elven if you stretch the imagination a bit).  I know that you can scale via the tail options and other methods, but I wanted some unique undead with some of the other races.  Hope to have this published soon.

Undead Dwarven King

Half-Orc Skeleton (20% larger than human plus the lower tusks)

The Menagerie (all unique creatures shown to scale)

I am liking how its going, though I have to ask in respect of the dwarf one...

Any chance of a miner version (Cause dwarves, y'know) and maybe one with a raggedy rotten beard?

Elven ones covered in vines and stuff like that could be interesting as well

Excellent! Saves me a lot of work since I was looking into doing this for Q.

They are not dynamic.  I have tried to do a beard for the dwarves, but I can't get it right because of the clipping on the armor.  I want to get to something like the image below eventually.

Shape the beard to drape over the armor naturally?  Would may still be clipping as it moves it's head around and such, but might not clip as much

Have you tried the beard as a head aligned vfx?

These all look good, but the eyes of the skeletal knight are more comic than scary. Why would he have eyes anyway if there isn't even a bit of skin left? The eyes would be gone sooner than the skin.

Yeah im not a fan of googly-eyed undead either, unless intended to be comical, Thayan lich protestics, or possibly as necromantic constructs...

I'd suggest giving fleshy undead types like zombies and revenants yellow/greenish, rotted, wormy or milky white eyes, and giving your various death knights, liches, skeletal fleshless undead types simple glowing energy or spiderwebs in eye sockets if anything at all...

I kind of like the eyeballs in the skeletal pirates that Cervantes did for Q - it gives them character. I once played a PnP module where the crypt at the end had skeleton sentries stationed all throughout it. Every single one of the bloody things had "wizard eyes" that relayed your movements back to the necromancer, making for one nasty end battle. So there is some logic, albeit rather loose, that can explain the existence of eyes in skeletons.

Also don't forget the tsr module "L1 - The Secret of Bone Hill" had a special skeleton that had a lolling tongue (if I remember correctly) as well as rolling eyes.
