Well I'm not in the US, so that might be easier to arrange a play time.

My time zone is GMT+1 CET. So India's is GMT +5 1/2 (Thank you google) and you play after 7pm which is after 1.30 pm for me. That actually suits me perfectly on some days when I don't have school to attend. However, I do have a ton of homework, so I won't be able to make it an every day thing. I will check out the server on Wednesday 23/9 since I don't have school that day. Hope to see you than.

So here are the two main issues have with Alangara so far:

I'd generally agree with what you wrote overall (both positives and negatives) but would like to at least add a third -- the lack of higher end content, at least for solo players or small groups. I think my highest character (which I also think was the highest level character, period, on the server at the time) was level 27. In general, I found the first, oh, dozen levels quite fun. Even getting up to 15-18 wasn't too bad. Things just became a slog and an XP grind at that point, though, even with me soloing areas meant for groups to do some of the precious few quests at higher level (and those quests had devolved from more interesting ones at lower levels to "Kill 100 (not kidding) of a mob").

It was about a year ago that I was mainly playing, I think. I got some friends to play with me as well but they started to feel the grind even sooner than I did (I have far more tolerance for that sort of thing than most people) and I couldn't even assure them of things getting better later on.

I dunno. The first 15 levels or so would rate among the best experiences I've had on PWs gameplay wise, the scenery/world design would also rate among the best I've seen on PWs, and the world has a lot of potential overall...but the longer term stuff would need some major work.

However while I played there, I was the only player on the server, which made me feel lonely at times. I did meet the dm once, and she/he was very friendly and helpful. The server would be more fun with more players around, since the higher level quests were designed for parties.

Yes, that was also me shortly before you started playing.

Including tarashon, we have a potential party of four, which can be a lot of fun.

I'd potentially be willing to play as well if the times work. Still feeling burned out from the grind last time I was there, though. You know those forge tokens you were mentioning? I ground out enough to add five different damage types (Piercing, Bludgeoning, Acid, Sonic, and Cold -- then Fire was added via Flame Weapon, Slashing via Greater Magic Weapon, and Electric via a boss drop) which cost 2 + 6 + 10 + 14 + 18 = 50 tokens alone for just the weapon. Needed more for the rest of the gear, of course.

Here's a little tip, though -- because of the way the calculation works, adding *any* property to a plot item (which means vendors will offer 0g for it) always costs 1 token, no matter how strong it is or how many other properties are on the item.

Sorry for the delayed response. I'll be on today as well at the time I've posted, so I'm looking forward to seeing you there. And sorry about assuming you were in the US; Euro times are so much more convenient to arrange things, aren't they?

@MagicalMaster: Yeah, I found out about that yesterday, regarding the cheaper costs for enchanting quest items.

And I've only just hit 22, so I'll be finding out about the content issue you talked about (though tarashon has, to his credit, has been upfront about that point, but for now I'm not concerned about it). I know he has been working on some new content though, so that's a plus.

Let us know you're timings. We can work something out easily enough.

It's probably be easier for you to give me general time slots you're hoping for and I could tell you which work for me. Schedule and availability can vary wildly day to day, CST in general though (middle of US).

Heyas!

US- Central Timezone player here.

I currently play Jes , the good natured brass-dragon disciple ... still under 10th atm, lol.

I've already helped contribute a few things for the module.   wanted to touch on a few things here:

Role-Playing -  The way this module is done, it can be how you play that determines your specific involvement of the entre realm.

I am uncertain of an "over-all" plot at the moment, but I could say the Forces of Darkmor are probably not friendly to the Balder Alliance at all... lol.

Besides, that "open-ness" leaves a lot of room for DMs to elaborate on DM quest and plots.

You -can- just go gallivant about, and kill things, complete the "quest" ... and not "RP" at all.

But, taking the time to enjoy the server fully, just look around!

There are NO shortages of interesting , and I will say, beautiful places to sit and relax, and just RP ... You can also put things you find up for sale n a board, or hang about in town in the Plaza and try to hawk your goods.

RP-ing on the way to and from, and in-between battles is always more preferable than just silent run-in and hack at everything.

I came from a  super-duper " Hard-core" RP server before here ... and I LOVE the more relaxed atmosphere this system on Alangara offers.

The starting quest ... I did not find that bad as far as "running around" went.

I rather enjoyed the second ( pipe buying ) quest, because it allowed me to shop first, get some custom looks from the hot babe with the clothing designers.  The basic "run around" gives players a familiarity of where the starting areas needed are located.

It's easy to start off here and get established as a character.

I admit I was put off a tad bit at first because of the class option restrictions ( as some of my favorite classes are included in that list, lol. ) , but then again ... since I've been playing , the actual class-banns aren't that bad really.

Secondly on that aspect, you `could` build the same types of characters, given RP, looks, and class choices/options that are available.

I did want to point this out though:

Well, it did not "copy " ... grrr ...

Anyways someone mentioned a "fast way to get back to party" ... that would be nice, in case you crashed in the middle of a long adventure, and no DM is on to help port ya around.

A widget with the Option to TP to Party Leader ... would go a long ways.

But it isn't absolutely necessary, just would be a nice feature if able to have.

I've found the server to be up to standards and surpasses many other long running "PWs" out there right now.  Very few have the looks , got things to do so you aren't bored.

I like the way the scalp drops go myself.

Yes this means you need to "repeat" the area a few times if soloing ... or possibly even so if "partying" with others.  By the time you get to those "side quest" , you shouldn't be gaining things that fast anyways.  It keeps the playability of certain areas in the level ranges you should be in.

Remember, this isn't just "NWN", ... it's also DnD ... and in traditional DnD, your party wouldn't be going out, getting a handful of scalps in one run usually either.  They'd have to come back to the town/villiage/city/camp ... and rest up. Memorize spells, identify things, sell loot , divvy up treasures, rest and recuperate.   Then they could get back to task on hand.

So, I think personally, having to revisit areas a few times, run around getting the mobs ... if it takes one run fine. If it takes three or four, so be it.  Eventually , you will get there, if you stick at it.

Plus the more you do a scalp run ... the more gold per kill you gain to, and that helps later on. ( some things are uber expensive! )

 We need more players too!

I think it's a waste of time, playing NWN single-player , and not with others ...  I am good with everyone else being in other countries, lol.  Though it would be nice to have a few US players , I can play with more during the week too.  '<img'>

As for the teleport back to party after crash isues...

Well we have 2 different systems in place for this...

1.

Reborns actually have the ability to contact people via telepathy and then summon them to their own location once per rest, as an ingame power. ( works via summon party script ).

2.

We do have an Out Of Character summon party teleportring that we gave some trusted players back then, and so can do again in the future. However giving this out holds alot of potential for gametechnical abuse ballancewise when it comes to fighting the bossmobs so it was only given out to trusted players. How to then become trusted is indeed a good question but apearently it succeeded for many people back then so I reckon it might also happen in the future '<img'>

As for you contributions by all means keep up good suggestions etc. Whereas I obviously implement things on my own 2 persons usually have more imagination than 1 basically meaning that player suggestions tends to make for better PWs or Campaigns and modules etc. And in Alangara we have always been very open to suggestions as long as they did not disturb class balance ( negatively anyways ).

Greetings all '<img'>

Slowly mowing towards the introduction of a new highlevel quest- and storyline also some lowerlevel areas have felt the surge of power and fertility in preparation and anticipation of "Gaia's Rising". Below some teasers for the 2 newbie quests from Ralfe's Botaniqa in Castle Balder. Areas and quests new players can easily enough experience the same day they start on the server if playing some hours.

Seeing all the new updates to Alangara is really breathtaking!

Tarashon has done a really good job renewing the old areas in the sewers, as well as most of the original areas.

I've been playing since the server re-opening, and seen the changes first hand.

'd love to see more players experience Alangara, especially with the new improvements to the early-game leveling, as it's become increasingly easier to navigate, and know where to be (navigating is still hard, it's a big world after all. A big beautiful world!)

On a side note; I usually play during the 7pm - 23pm hours, GMT+1, but with my current job, I'll be randomly popping in every now and then.

Greetings all '<img'>

One of the major isues we have had both technically and ballancewise have been our magical forge allowing for custom creation of items, weapons and armors. We ( Seeker our scripter and co-owner ) have now managed to rescript the forge into a brand new system of fixed token prices depending on powertype and number of previous enchants. This means alot of troubles should now be history only, or at the very least will be a most near future '<img'>

Also armorclass enchantments have had their cap raised to +6 at level 25+ while others are limited according to level 10=+3, 15=+4, 20=+5 and finally for now 25=+6. This should make for a more fluent level progression and better balance along the road.

Weapon type also decides how many and how strong damage enchants together with some bonus options for certain classes.

We are very thrilled with this and looking forward to see the player feedback as we continues forward ...

Kind regards.

Howdy folks icon_e_smile.gif

After some hints and help on the community facebook page Alangara have been upgraded with a brand new custom AI.

Basically this have ment some extraodinary changes in creature behavior and it will make combat extremely more interesting in the future. Going down through the normal sewers in Castle balder alone was a completely different experience, first with the ratman actually using stealth sneaking up on you or your companions. They are also so sneaky now they dont just go for the front person. some of them sneaks right past you and attacks henchmen behind you. Awesome !

Coming to the mystics was an incredible and gamechanging experience. From their former singleminded attacking with magical missiles they now summons creatures, henchen and use various spells such as darkness. Suddenly I found myself surrounded by various imps- and beholder familiars going in the darkness etc. Nothing short of an amazing gamechange I should have implemented ages ago, but now its done...

This will likely mean massive changes elsewhere also very likely meaning a lot of tweaks in the upcoming months in regards to spells and more class variery. Since the monsters acts way smarter now it gives me an incredible array of customisation and variation in monsters class and power composition to make each area more unique in its encounters. I am certainly planning on tweaking much more for variation. So that fx some areas will be pain for casters due to monsters using dispells and others making the singleminded scimitar weaponmaster cry like a baby as the monster cares naught for feeble slashing damage etc etc.

If and when you encounter something that is completely overkill on the monsters please report it on the forum. Starting to use their artificial brainies might mean some creatures suddenly become much more powerfull and thus unintentional dangerous for its area and level range...

All this being said enjoy the changes - they are simple fantastic icon_e_smile.gif

Ps.

4th quest with corresponding area and new mob and reward drop type added to the "Rise of Gaia" quest line.
