Heyas!
US- Central Timezone player here.
I currently play Jes , the good natured brass-dragon disciple ... still under 10th atm, lol.
I've already helped contribute a few things for the module. wanted to touch on a few things here:
Role-Playing - The way this module is done, it can be how you play that determines your specific involvement of the entre realm.
I am uncertain of an "over-all" plot at the moment, but I could say the Forces of Darkmor are probably not friendly to the Balder Alliance at all... lol.
Besides, that "open-ness" leaves a lot of room for DMs to elaborate on DM quest and plots.
You -can- just go gallivant about, and kill things, complete the "quest" ... and not "RP" at all.
But, taking the time to enjoy the server fully, just look around!
There are NO shortages of interesting , and I will say, beautiful places to sit and relax, and just RP ... You can also put things you find up for sale n a board, or hang about in town in the Plaza and try to hawk your goods.
RP-ing on the way to and from, and in-between battles is always more preferable than just silent run-in and hack at everything.
I came from a super-duper " Hard-core" RP server before here ... and I LOVE the more relaxed atmosphere this system on Alangara offers.
The starting quest ... I did not find that bad as far as "running around" went.
I rather enjoyed the second ( pipe buying ) quest, because it allowed me to shop first, get some custom looks from the hot babe with the clothing designers. The basic "run around" gives players a familiarity of where the starting areas needed are located.
It's easy to start off here and get established as a character.
I admit I was put off a tad bit at first because of the class option restrictions ( as some of my favorite classes are included in that list, lol. ) , but then again ... since I've been playing , the actual class-banns aren't that bad really.
Secondly on that aspect, you `could` build the same types of characters, given RP, looks, and class choices/options that are available.
I did want to point this out though:
Well, it did not "copy " ... grrr ...
Anyways someone mentioned a "fast way to get back to party" ... that would be nice, in case you crashed in the middle of a long adventure, and no DM is on to help port ya around.
A widget with the Option to TP to Party Leader ... would go a long ways.
But it isn't absolutely necessary, just would be a nice feature if able to have.
I've found the server to be up to standards and surpasses many other long running "PWs" out there right now. Very few have the looks , got things to do so you aren't bored.
I like the way the scalp drops go myself.
Yes this means you need to "repeat" the area a few times if soloing ... or possibly even so if "partying" with others. By the time you get to those "side quest" , you shouldn't be gaining things that fast anyways. It keeps the playability of certain areas in the level ranges you should be in.
Remember, this isn't just "NWN", ... it's also DnD ... and in traditional DnD, your party wouldn't be going out, getting a handful of scalps in one run usually either. They'd have to come back to the town/villiage/city/camp ... and rest up. Memorize spells, identify things, sell loot , divvy up treasures, rest and recuperate. Then they could get back to task on hand.
So, I think personally, having to revisit areas a few times, run around getting the mobs ... if it takes one run fine. If it takes three or four, so be it. Eventually , you will get there, if you stick at it.
Plus the more you do a scalp run ... the more gold per kill you gain to, and that helps later on. ( some things are uber expensive! )
We need more players too!
I think it's a waste of time, playing NWN single-player , and not with others ... I am good with everyone else being in other countries, lol. Though it would be nice to have a few US players , I can play with more during the week too. '>
