Hey, questions my group has encountered a few problems that have stumped us.  Any help from you guys would be appreciated:

 

First: the "Drown" attack used by Elementals in the Ice Plane.  Is there any defense against that spell?  We have tried Water Breathing and of course Death Ward; no luck so far.  If there is nothing is it possible to request the crafting of a Drown-immunity ring or helmet?  Currently we are having 2-3 deaths per run, purely on the Natural 1 auto-fails because those Elementals pretty much spam that attack if you do not keep them all knocked down.

 

Tempests also seem to have an auto-kill spell/attack but we have not quite caught what that one is yet.  So advice or tips on that would be helpful too.

 

Secondly, where do you have to go to research epic spells?

 

On a final note, awesome job cleaning up the goblin area, to whoever did that work.  That place is awesome for getting your feet wet in the early levels, and just hard enough to be fun if you venture into the golem or mintaur caves.  So thanks on that.

Just updating that last question:

So we figured out that "Death Ward" actually does stop Drown, so in case anyone else has that problem, there ya go.

 

Still unanswered is the Epic Spell research problem.  Where do I have to go to be allowed to research and learn epic spells?  Anyone?

So, update on this epic spells situation.  So I find that there is a feat: "Epic Spellcasting", and that allowed me to research and learn an epic spell.  Spell worked fine and I used it once (it was Fleet of Foot, so very long duration).  When I log back in just a few hours later i now have no epic spells again, i have lost the epic seed and am still out the 12k XP and gobs of gold that it cost to research it.  So does anyone really know what is up with this system?

OK so got the game installed - spent a whole $10 from gog to get it up and running however I can see the web site now I just can't download the hak file, so tried the smaller ones separately however neither of the big files downloads.  My old PC doesn't work anymore so any other place I can get the Hak ? such as dropbox or another file sharing service ? thanks

               Several of us have the hacks. I think they could be sent through gmail if split up. I'll send them to you if no one has a better idea. Normally they can be downloaded from the web page but I've noticed it down some lately. I used a download manager and that did the trick of restarting the downloads when they stopped working - so i'm able to get in no problem now.

zakoam- to answer your epic spell question. I tested this out a few months ago. It is still glitchy, as in it does not work every time. I have gotten a few of the epic spells to work. I have been in eveningstar each time. 

 

In the old days, a character had to go to a specific mountain top tower room to learn spells. I have been to this room and noticed no difference than being in eveningstar. Now having said that, if natfka eats/destroys your spell or seed, I will log on and give you another. after attempting about 50 times, I was able to get 3 of the epic spells to work: hellball, penguin, and pestilence. please email me so I can log on with you to make this happen.

Is there any way of getting other races other than Human to start at GDI ? as tried elf and cormanthir is way more deadly esp with those ruby constructs camping out the area where you spawn

Ok so managed to get out of cormanthir - easiest way was to start in Suzail first.  Also rediscovered the Elven backroads .. man there's so much here I'm rediscovering.  Thanks for putting this back up after so long !

I successfully learned 3 epic spells: pestilence, hellball, and penguins, granted it was a pain. email me and we can set up a time to look at on natfka in case i need to regive you seeds or spells if the game eats them, yes this happens.
