Hello!
silm.pw is both a player-crafted, and, in large parts, player-driven PW. We offer advanced tools and support for players to make stuff and make it pretty without any admin or DM intervention. You can think of us as a "tinkerer's workshop".
We have a very rich and detailed setting based in the Silver Marches, true to the source books whereever possible. (silm.pw is actually based on a very old, german PW - probably the oldest, so we don't start from scratch.)
Many existing characters - of all walks of life - have very diverse and deep background stories, none of them geared towards combat. New characters have no problems finding or making their place - with or without DM support, even while it will take time to develop them.
We strive for quality roleplay (within the setting) and as such it will overcome engine concerns where possible.
Right now though, we're retooling, and reworking all of our areas to be even more awesome (also, there is some translating involved ..). This doesn't mean there isn't any roleplay - there is! - but it definitely indicates a higher-than-usual initial investment/learning curve. Don't worry though, we'd rather have it slow-paced than half-baked.
