As one of the more popular and active NWN persistent world servers around, it seems appropriate to list EFU here in case there are any new players who'd like to try us out.
EFU has been continually operated since January 1, 2006. It is a true labor of love with an active and passionate community of DMs and players. It is an intensive story-focused and role-playing server with a high focus on an on-going narrative and story that players can influence with their characters.
EFU is currently in its fourth chapter, "Escape from Uncertainty: Revelations." The setting is roughly based in a non-canonical version of the Forgotten Realms, but as a consequence of events that took place in the former three chapters the sun has been destroyed, the surface is a wasteland, and the main server population is hiding in a divided and vaguely Orwellian concealed small city miles beneath the surface while aberrant armies pursue a campaign of conquest above.
Average character levels are around 5-10. Magic is common but low-powered. The mechanics are quite challenging. Survival and success is not assured, although on an OOC (out of character) level the server and its community is very friendly and welcoming to new players.
We have an incredible amount of scripted content.
Haks are not required but are highly recommended.
