Tales of Midland, A 16th Century Social Steampunk Server
« on: August 06, 2014, 02:17:55 am »

***Re-edited sept 2nd, 2014***

hey everybody;

im reposting on here to let everyone know weve opened a new Adventuring Social Server called: Tales of Midland.

We got our first website up go have a look and let us know what you think! http://talesofmidland.weebly.com/

We are an adult (18+), light steampunk, medeival, social server designed around 16th Century European cultures. Our overall vision encompasse's the idea of exploration, adventuring, guilds, quests, so much more.

Our sole design is to create a world with which we could share with friends, and are reaching out to the community to also join us!

We have a big emphasis on a type of playground server, little restrictions including such as no cwntral starting locations or no level restricted areas. Our focus is primarily immersion, lore, and personal progression (IE: ranks, titles, etc)

or just watch our trailer here:

we have a wide variety of starting locations included for humans, elves, halflings, and dwarves (most of which are included in the video)

"The world takes place in the country known as Midland, in the year 1585, a year for innovation and a revival of classical arts, music, architecture, war, fashion, science, and knowledge (equivelent to 16th Century Europe)

Many of the worlds have become tolerant with one another, and diversity has grown immensely making it the most Diverse period in Midlands History. with over 22 distinct  intelligent races or Nations to join

The new age of ideology, begining of enlightenment, with the comming of age reformations such as Independence, and free thinking known as the Age of Imperialism has arrived. Quickly becoming the largest movements in Midlands History since the 'Arcane Era'

Adopting what has become 'The new doctrine' these innovators, shakers, and adventurers pave the way for a new world, making it well suited for this diverse world. But with such great movements come with such great resonsibilities.... and new opponents.

The 'Old Law' still rules in favour for the use of magic as a means to develope societies. Seeing The Doctrine as a radical ideology bent on destroying magic as a core principle over Science & Technology.

wether if they dictate each other as enemies or allies, is always what history will decide"

Though the world is divided on ideologies, it is not divided by its diversity or your choice of joining a faction. we wholly intend to have every area as a new cultural experience.

A quick overview for some of what is currently showing:

An underdark complete with drow society known as 'Undermountain'

Binding Systems

Setting is 16th century period world, not related to FR

a categorized Quest System based on casual, guilds, and regular Questing styles

Custom Content created by members of the Custom Content Challenge team, including some of my own works such as reskins, and models

Vampires with vampiric abilities such as turning (biting) players, mist forms, wolf forms, and coffin and bat binding tools

Werewolves with werewolf abilities such as frenzy, biting (turning) and polymorph to wolf forms

professions (jobs system) designed for Roleplaying experiences only

A map system to see our entire world in game,

and a in game email system (so as to bypass forum or emails, just do it right in game),

And so much more

These areas look beautiful.  I haven't played NWN in a while but I'll definitely log in and give this place a try.

A forum is definitely a necessity.  You can't build a community without one, and a community is your best word-of-mouth advertising tool.

Hi Athain;

We love to have you jump in for abit. as a reminder for the server, we dont like to rush players into the main world. we like for everyone to affiliate with the mechanics first before doing so.

But if thats just not your style, then by all means jump right in!

During that time having a community server for news, information, and where to talk with us and the community will be addressed. in the mean time no forums til' after the beta week '<img'>
