This is looking very promising and I hope you go online sooner rather than later. IMHO you're more likely to attract more help after players sample your world and develop an attachment to it.

Hill's Edge is closing in on 90 areas, and we are now a team of three hard working souls. We have a forum [soon to open] and a full working dedicated NWNX linux server which - as you read, keep the module online for testing.

We are still looking for people who would like to contribute with building, lore or anything else of worth.

I can also reveal two custom religious Prestige Classes that will be part of the setting from the start - Strifeleaders of Cyric and Joydancers of Lliira.

This time I will not post any screenshots, but a map of the region that the players will be able to see in-game aswell!

We are putting together the last pieces for an alpha! We have decided that there will be no character wipe between alpha and beta (and not between beta and gamma either), but upon entering the server during alpha, a player should be prepared that his character might be modified, his equipment swapped out or removed. Hopefully we aim that this wouldn't be necessary. Oh, and he will only be able to keep 10% of his earned experience.

Let me explain how our custom experience system works:

The XP system we employ is based around the concept of time-based mechanical progression. There are two distinct concepts at play - the actual amount of XP a character has, and the amount of XP a character can gain. The former is increased by killing things in combat and by a regular scripted XP gain. The latter is called the "soft cap" and is incremented over time spent logged in. The soft cap represents the "ideal" amount of XP for the age and activity of the character.

A character above their soft cap will see their experience gains reduced toward zero as they become further above the cap. A character below their soft cap will see their combat and faerie gains increased as the gap between their actual XP and the cap widens.

I've been working on NPCs, shops, items and to populate all those areas with NPCs! Also, we have finalized several dungeons that will be tested during the alpha-phase. The loot-system is just about completed, and so is death and respawn.

We are still looking for developers of all kinds! Especially someone who wants to put focus on lore, conversations and texts!

This time I'll show a selection of some custom made medium items!

So with regards to your "soft cap", so if one group goes questing and does some X adventuring over 4 hours, and another group at the same starting level does the same X adventuring over 16 hours, the latter group will get more xp than the former group?

That is correct, it's to prevent people from earning experience to fast and to award those that won't be able to play every day. Also, it naturally doesn't slow your progress down if you roleplay during the adventures. '<img'>

The system works pretty similar to the one used in Shadows on Tilverton, you'll see when you go online.

I've been following your project for a while, as your building is really, very nice, and your scripter is a friend of mine. I was looking forward to playing, but I think I'll wait now until alpha is over - I'm really not fond of losing XP and having to farm it over again.

Thank you both, unfortunately I have some bad news.

My scripter has gone inactive, and I am once again alone in the project. I can not continue on my own, and have decided to go with some alternatives...

• If a scripter suddenly appears and wants to cooperate with me, let me know.

• I might give away all the areas and everything I have made.

• Merge my work with an exisiting module

• Just flush it...

This is what I have

• 90 high quality areas including the city of Hill's Edge, connected to Corm Orp to the east and the Reaching Woods at the south.

• 6 Dungeons ranging from level 2 to level 6. Fully populated with respawning monsters.

• NESS (Neshkes Extenable Spawn System). Fully integrated and works like a charm

• AWW (Advance Walk Waypoints). Makes the NPCs come alive and makes the city a sprawling place.

• Lots of features as placeables, creatures, heads, cloaks, robes, etc. Handpicked over the years and integrated in the module.

• Some minor scripts, carefully placed around the module to enhance it.

• Tailor lobby Area and Login Area.

• Integrated SimTools with working chatcommands, connected to custom skills and custom emotes.

• A handmade map picturing the areas on the server.

If you want to be a scripter, you'll be able to put your mark on the module. Only requirement I have is that you don't sway too much away from my initial vision of the server - a Low Magic, 1-20 PW set in the Forgotten Realms, emphasized on immersion, feeling and High quality content.

What exactly are you needing scripted in general?

I need a scripter who can setup the main systems on a Persistent World and who knows what he's doing. '<img'>

• Death- & Respawn system (with bleeding)

• Experience system (Now I already have this, but it might need maintainance)

• Database setup (NWNX, Simtools, Persistancy).

• Loot (I also have this already, but it might need some adjustment).

• Additional minor scripts per request.

Keep in mind, it's an opportunity to implement your own touch on a persistent world. I also have some finished scripts already, but either using them or working out new ones is fine by me.

I also request solid and flexible scripts, as they should endure through alpha and beta! '<img'>

i'm crossing my fingers here as I think this project could excite more interest in the community. Good luck to you, Fog.

I really hope you find others of a like mind to team up with. Failing that, I hope you find an alternate way to have your content used and enjoyed. Flushing must be a last resort!

*keeps fingers crossed*

Those I could handle easily.

• Database setup (NWNX, Simtools, Persistancy).

- I've never used NWN databases or NWNX (though I doubt the database part would be that difficult to learn)

- I've never used Simtools

- Not sure what you mean by persistency in this case -- if you simply mean like saving your location then that's simple to do in any number of ways (and the PC having a permanent item to store information on is the simple method I'm used to using)

All that said, during my "game time" I already run a guild in WoW, have several NWN projects going, and play with friends on other games.  So while I'd be willing to help, I doubt I could spare more than 2-3ish hours a week on average in a consistent manner.

If that interests you, we can talk -- but I can't dedicate 10+ hours a week to the project or something.

Edit: And I'm mainly offering because some of those areas look amazing.  I'm extremely good at mechanical modifications from classes to spells to items and beyond, particularly in regard to game balance...but I'm not very good at the visual/sound/atmospheric stuff.  So I'd like to see this project continue.

Your work is amazing and I'll be very sad if you'll stop now, then, maybe, this solution is possible if you don't find a scripter, but please, don't abandon your module ! '<img'>

My server is a part of another server and I'm sure you could have the possibility to have your own world there.

If you are interested, tell me, please.

That's it, I'm done. I recently got two people who wanted to help, but it didn't last long, so I will abandon this project. I do not have the energy to try and motivate people.

If anyone wants to continue, I'll gladly give away the module, just send me a PM. Though, keep in mind, I will not give it away to anyone. I want to be sure it's in good hands.

I am sure this could have been a really good persistant world and I would like to thank everyone for the interest.
