               ANSALON II - THE WORLD OF KRYNN
NEVERWINTER NIGHTS (1st Edition) PW MEGAWORLD
Requires:
Patch Neverwinter Nights 1.69+SoU+HotU Expansions
Custom Hak Set: CEP 1.68/CEP 2.4/Ansalon Hakset

The Neverwinter Nights Module "Ansalon II - Dragonlance Megaworld" (AWOK2) is the 2nd generation of a Multiplayer Superworld (with over 1000 areas, I think it can be called that) created with the first incarnation of Neverwinter Nights (NWN) by Bioware and Wizards of the Coast (this games was around a lot circa 2004-2008) there are still many worlds created by this around. NWN may look pretty crappy and hard to play compared to some of todays modern MMO's, but it still has a fond place in the hearts of many.

Ansalon I (The first generation) was going hot and heavy in 2004-2008 before it was taken down due to hosting problems. It has been brought back to life now in June 2013 at the request of some old timers that affectionatly call me (the creator) a 'f**king bastard' due to my evil deviousness in the creation of the world, and my DM character named "The Mistress of PAIN!"

Now when we say its a 'custom' world, this is an understatement. Almost every aspect has been modified and re-written with the NWN internal scripting system. There are custom creatures (including Draconians!), encounter system totally reworked, custom treasure drops, custom experience system, player banks stored in a database (persistant), custom items, even a way that you can continue past level 40 all the way to level 200! ..The amount of customization in AWOK2 will not fit on a webpage very well.

               I checked out your website and had a few questions about the PW based on that (and I'm sure others would too)
  • What's the general magic level (high/low, maximum weapon/armor enchantment, etc)
  • have any feats, classes, sumons, spells, etc been altered from Bioware defaults?
  • If it's high magic, have you scaled the spells beyond the basics and/or added damage?  On the post-40 servers I've played on, for higher level areas, the monster HP are scaled higher to account for better melee AB/damage, which without scaling the caster damage spells severely gimps casters...
  • I know you mentioned action server, but is there any overall plot/main quest to work through, or is it just a series of runs?
  • What sort of item customization is there - a forge for building weapons/armor, etc? Can you buy such items or are you just looking for good loot drops?  How easy is it to get level-appropriate gear?
  • is there any item level restriction in place?
  • Does the module assume low level players can use hand-me-down/gifted powerful gear (and puts new players at somewhat of a disadvantage to start) or is there ILR/no twinking policy?
  • What sort of scrolls are available?  Is concealment readily available?
  • For post-40 hit points, I know you say it's redone on rest, but have you scripted it so that Heal Potions and spells will Heal you up to your true post-40 HP; or since it's counted as temp HP will it only heal you to your level 40 total HP?
  • for your weapon master post-40 bonus, you get +1 STR every 5 levels.  Is it possible to script that to check to see if base DEX > base STR, then add +1 DEX instead for those DEX-based WMs?  I ask because many of my favorite PCs are dex-based weapon masters.
  • I see you have Krynn-based monsters like Draconians, etc.  Are there any Krynn based classes (e.g. editing Paladin or COT to Solomnic Knights, etc)?
  • Are rogue skills (locks, traps) required for any areas?  If they are, are they valuable for rogues, or are there easy magic ways around them (knock spell, default Find Traps scrolls available, etc)
  • What is the healing like - is the Heal skill required to use kits or are potions readily available?
  • It looks like XP is fast - after being up since only June 16 there are a bunch of lvl 30-40 PCs.  Is that a fair statement?  Looks like (assuming party in same range) 250-600xp is average range (which is quite generous FYI).

anyway, just some questions off the top of my head (the first fantasy books I ever read were the "Dragons of..." trilogy and I have a soft spot for Krynn).

               also, you may want to consider a separate file that just has your haks and not the full CEP 1.68 and 2.4 all in the same ZIP - I already have CEP 2.4 and only need haks, but I have to download 1.47 Gigs, most of which is redundant since I already have CEP.  I would have tried it out, but the download took too long, so I had it DL in the background and went on a server I already play on.

+1 to +max in epic and super-epic areas

Feats have been left alone, but there is no crafting or horses.
Summons are same but with the addition of special battle pets that fight for you (under construction at this time)
Spells are massively altered mostly buff durations (normally 1 caster level = 1 actual minute)

Spell for casters have been modifed, they are normal at below level 20 and increase after that (epic 20-200)
In Ansalon II caster can wear special plate and a shield with ZERO arcane spell failure..Anyone can be a 'tank' in Ansalon II

Ansalon II has multiple quests.

There are multiple cities/towns in Ansalon II. Solace is the starting town and the merchants sell a multitude of gear level 1-7ish.
Other town sell more high levek gear depending on the area. 'Haven' sell level 16-20 gear.
Caragoth (the main epic area city) sells level 20+ items.

ILR is totally in place. You have to lev to use powerful gear.

All Scrolls are available in magic shops. Some spells have been disabled due to player annoyanace report. (see In-game/website for details)

Players cannot be Solomnic Knight athough there are SK outpost in the epic are that sell special gear to Paladins and COT.

Many areas have chest that maybe both trapped and locked. If you have disable trap/open lock ability you get EXP for using those abilities, other than that they are all bustable. All scrolls are available.

There are many heal potions available, some special (like full heal and 'ambrosia' (full heal and restore)
But you can only find them in higher level shops and areas.

It has only been made PUBLICALLY available since June 16 it has been around for years.

I tried that and some people told me they got a version mismatch on CEP. So I packed up the version I am using. If you already have all the files give it ago without the package on the site, People found it easier to just download and install so there were no problems.
