Hey everybody, this is MakeitHome from the Border Kingdoms, we've been pushing for laucnh on July 20th, we have a host of professional scripters, and people that are working with the project- we have new systems, and new idealogies, It's going to be exciting, I'll do a brief write out of the server here below. We are looking for more players to share in this experience, we encourage, and push players towards plots, goals- even forming entire Kingdoms, to mercenary bands, winning tournaments, or getting involved with the politics, and idealogies of this server.
This server is perma-death, low magic, and low-level. The death system works as following;
You lose all your gear, gold, and equipment upon death from an NPC. (You do not die due to NPCS, but you lose everything, unless it's a DM Event.)
Once you are killed twice by a player, you are dead forever.
There are systems such as plague, war, reputation, and a multiude of other systems.
We are pushing to provide the most authentic, and good roleplaying experience that we can devolop, this server has been a long time coming.

You choose your destiny, and your path. There is no predefined paths, or scripted quests. It's up to you, the player which route to take. There are thousands of paths, all unique, and open for you to explore. DMS will be nameless, and there only to supplement your story, with very limited Out of Character communication, as you play a living character in this brave world.
Your story is unique, your story effects the world. No matter what anyone else says, your character can fade into insecruity, or become something far greater then what he imagined. You are the artist in this, and this server, this sandbox is designed specifically for your experience, the setting, the lore, and the npcs are the only constant. There is no grand storyline, other then the telling of characters, but most importantly.
You the artist, the painter of your character's destiny..

Where what you could do, and what you could say is effective, every action has something that comes along with it, your thoughts, and what you do in-game could possibly effective an entire Kingdom. Or perhaps, find and strike a Kingdom of your own.
Enter the Border Kingdoms. A Server full of possibility, features, and one thing in mind: You the player.
Where roleplay still matters.[color=rgb(0, 204, 255)">Who are we What sort of Staff? A dedicated team of like-minded invidiuals, Area Designers, and people whom are fed up with poor roleplay, and the players not being able to influence anything, where roleplay doesn't matter. Favoritism, and special gains don't ]work[/color][/url] here, It is one of our strongest dislikes, DMS will not be able to be Player-Characters, no one will receive special treatment. We have the backings, and support to pull this off through the Neverwinter Night's Engine, and the Toolset. We have a pod-cast interview with the Neverwinter Night's Podcast, and we have support from many different players. We need players, and we need interest.

The Border Kingdoms is a unique, upcoming persistent world. Some of the features include:[/i]• Philosophy towards player dynamics and interaction with the world, a system that allows player groups to form real kingdoms with subservient NPCs to act as 'extras' rather than overshadowing PCs, which are the real focus. Political roleplay will be a large part of the server, and various player-created factions and player-ruled factions will interact to create a living, organic world.[/i]
• Large, sweeping areas to give a sense of scale, and more than enough land to go around.
• Play as anything you like - From an ambitious warlord, to a daring settler, or a glory-seeking adventurer. You choose your own ambitions, and shape the world around you.
• Build into the land itself! You can cut down forests, build towers and castles, dig into the side of cliffs, make secret hideouts. Found a town and construct buildings to create a thriving
settlement. With the proper effort, anything can be done.
• Dynamic in-character consequence system. Great deeds of bravery or nefarious evil will be rewarded. But remember, you must pay for the consequences of your actions.• Our philosophy towards DMing: Favoritism is anathema, DMs exist to serve player arcs and support player storylines. Rather than being rule-enforcers, they are 99% focused on interactive narrative. Player factions will be a key source of roleplay and gameplay, and DMs will do their utmost to support their growth and existence.[/i]
• Influences from real-world history, high fantasy, and various low-fantasy settings such as 'Warhammer' and 'A song of Ice and Fire.
• A unique adaptation of the Forgotten Realms campaign setting: Magic is considered the stuff of myth and legend, the gods are mysterious, and the world is gritty and organic. A significant 'darkening' of the setting.[/i]
• 'Spellcaster'
classes will be a very rare sight through the application cap (a la 'Jedi from S.W.G.), as will 'magical' items and 'consumables'. With this in mind, the server will be balanced to support the martial classes such as Archers, Rogues, Fighters, Barbarians, Monks, et cetera, with a strong focus on these classes. The majority of spells require expensive components to cast, and significant changes have been made to spellcasters to keep them in-line with the martial classes. Peasants will truly fear, and perhaps act with violence against spellcasters.
•Crafted equipment will be a large part of the economy. Smiths can specialize in armor or weapons (Or both, should they spend the time and money.) All crafted equipment is, in general, superior to drops in dungeons, but takes time to make. There are a number of exceptions to this rule, but we wanted to avoid rewarding 'dungeon farming' over a crafting economy
High-quality sets of armor, for example, will specialize in different types of damage immunities. For example, a 'Reinforced'-style Full-plate will give a % immunity against piercing weapons, whereas a 'Mail-backed'-style plate will give protection against slashing. Other styles will protect against bludgeoning, et cetera. As each damage type on our weapons have been balanced to be powerful, this adds another layer of strategy to weapon and armor choice.
•A number of martial and exotic weapons have been balanced to be viable in combat. A summary of this system is here:

• A large, carefully chosen soundtrack, entirely sourced from renaissance and medieval music from a variety of cultures around the world.
• A focus on regional culture. While traveling across our many vast, carefully-crafted areas, players will experience significant cultural changes and really feel that they are in a different part of the realm.[/i]
• State-of-the-art Hakpaks and the freshest, newest content from the vault, making for a visually enticing server, paired with an extremely high standard for area design and overall consistency with regards to geography.[/i]
