Servers you would love too see

               @Molpadia...I would just hang out in gamespy at your prefered times and look through the server lists,check which ones seem too have a lot of players and if ness. go and get the haks etc,then log-in and make some friends,quite a few servers are Euro based,or have euro DMs,and some of them like you too visit their forums and say you want too join in so the DM,s can plan out whats happening in that event.[Doing an event for 10+ people can be quite differant than for2!]

               Lot of players doesnt always mean lots of Europeans it seems, because when I log in and play a bit all I see is afk people, or people out farming for xp, and when I check the forums I see all the planned events are in my nighttime, which just makes me sad..                I take it you are looking in the RP section?.hmmm...well try some of the PW story or Story worlds perhaps?

               Years ago, there was a Shannara PW.  I was quite fond of that place, particularly for the setting.  It's too bad that it died and no one else successfully completed one.  

I'd have liked to have seen someone take a stab at pulling off a Word & Void/Genesis of Shannara type server.

A Sword of Truth server could have worked.  The setting itself was better than a number of the books.

How about a Mistborn server?  The magic system would have been tough to pull off in NWN though.

I agree. The Warhammer universe is not only very interesting, but also extremely diverse. I haven't gotten the chance to play any fantasy era based WH games, but when the Warhammer RTS came out, it was a like a new drug. Excellent universe.

Rennaisance Period. It would be fantastic if the primary countries
involved would be Europe, the so-called Middle East, Asia, and Africa,
but being logistically improbable it's far more likely it would  
confined to Europe, likely even just a few key places like Spain,
France, England, and the Papal States for instance.

I would definitely agree! That would be awesome. One RPG that incorporated this idea very well was a game called "Lionheart", focusing on Europe after a doorway to another realm was opened during the time of Lionheart's crusades, bringing magick and other forms of evil into the world. It was a very rich campaign, tying in Leonardo DaVinci, the Spanish Inquisition, and many other factions.

I'd like to see a server where DMs run events/quests in European evenings.

Well, I can certainly say that when my PW is launched, I'll plan events for all timezones. I have had many friends back in th day who lived in Europe, Asia, Australia... and on the previous worlds I administrated and DMed plots on, I always made plans to be there for everyone (only with the fortunate boon of having a lot of free time on my hands as we all have responsibilities to attend to, of course).



I wanted to get the chance to show my Persistent World to you guys since you're all talking about types of servers you would like to see, and any suggestions/feedback for ideas are more than encouraged. It is called Eonswar Chronicles with a cutom setting. I'd like to offer something new and lively to the NWN 1 community. I've put together a narrated introduction video introducing some of the world and its lore with more videos of lore and screenshots of the module in the next few days. What would you say has been the best qualities out of many previous servers you have played on? What are some things that current servers are lacking in? Would it be DM involvement, lacking Lore, custom features...?

               the best one i ever played on was the sadly shortlived CAP by 9fires,fully realised monster races,orcs were bloody scary!,random by area loot,even the dm couldnt spawn loot!,differant spawns/effects depending on the time of day,[dont go THERE at night!],random things happening,eg: those goblins would spawn and raid the town!..or someone would hire assasins too kill you!.say a certain gods name in vain and bad guys would show up...and chase you ,even if you teleported out of there,from over 6 screens away!,into and out of buildings![hide under the bed time!]they would track you down!

other things i would like too see.

Reputation by race and your actions,if you are a half orc,no that human village will not let you in!,the npcs wont talk too you except too say go away and guards will run you off!
Undead...all those villagers will produce torches and the priest will come out too help!
Kill a npc?...ok see the barons castle,those guys will send out patrols looking for you ,your wanted poster will appear in towns with a bounty!
Subraces that actually mean something on the server,rather than being a new shiny skin with a few stat boosts,so if you do actually meet a lich,vampire,ye rusty old saw...its unusual and scary...and if you are playing one...its difficult!...with the relevant drawbacks in that setting.

Getting back too the CAP server,9fires had the best ever quests I have seen.
low lvl,go find chalice stolen by goblins...ho hum you think,nope, theres 3 or more ways too get it,then when you return 3 choices when handing in the quest[hand it over=xp and gp/say you couldnt find it and keep it for the once per day=xp/say you killed them but its lost ,destroyed-gp],but each of those choice led too 3 differant new quests with the same divurgance of paths with a subsaquent effect on your standing with the church,village etc...amazing stuff!

Weapons that are integral too you,not throw away my family heirloom as soon as a new shiny appears,one that grows with you and your char choices influence that.

good monster AI!, and random spawns having a chnce too surprise you.

traps and locks for rogues,stuff that you need differant chars too access,like doors that need too be sung open and stuff.So that one guy cant grind too 40 and solo it once per day!

Bosses with the chance of random reinforcements...eg:ohoh,looks like the giant king was having  a feast today!

Id say from looking at it,have a look at ffbj,s stuff too,and amethyst dragons and have good look at the custom forum for ideas.

               Yeah Cap 9fires was great.  He has always been a big supporter of mine.  Sadly he came into my game one night, and he took the bait of heading into the crpyt where he died.  I tried to save him but by going in there I only spawned more zombies, he kept popping back up only to be killed over and over again by a plague of zombies.  He did not have a coffin receipt which allows you to respawn at the carpentry shop.  Well after about 5 deaths in a row he shouted in disgust, logged, and I haven't seen him since. I really felt bad about that.

That's a good list.  
I know the Thay PW has a pretty good reputation system.  Lots of features are tied into it (faction advancement, PrC's, etc).  It's partially based on race.  Elves receive a lot less notoriety than humans, for example.  They're also more likely to be attacked by slavers.  
NPC's are pretty much universally hostile to lycans.  The sun kills vampires.  
Those sorts of touches are always nice.

               I've always been interested in the Thayan server based on the fact that the rp is praised highly, but I'm put off by the fact that it's based in Thay. I don't particularly feel myself suited to evil characters, and find a lot of 'evil' PCs mind-numbingly boring 'Chaotic Stupid' types.

It would be historical roleplay with one big difference...magic would exist. 'Artes Magicae' would be prohibited by The Church (as it was in real life) but it would be a very real thing. A lot of political rp with heavily ambiguous morals but accommodating enough that the playerbase would not need a degree in history to play and appreciate it.

I'm in the process of building (+2yrs so far) a late 15th century Bohemian PW based on books written (not yet published but posted on Deviant Art) by a friend of mine. It's a historically accurate  alternate reality where magic exists but is frowned upon by the church. All the major cities are built, still working on quests.

I've been screaming for a Malazan server for ages. The only problem is the magic system is so different, to do it right would take an overhaul like the WoT servers do.

And archer has been driving herself bats trying to make my world NWN playable forever too. But yeah, my series is set in 16th century Central and Eastern Europe. From Bohemia to Transylvania. '> With occasional jaunts elsewhere. And yes, alchemy you can probably get away with in most places. But outright 'sorcery'? Oh dear.                That would be a cool setting, seriously, where magic was rather weak, surely the church would have to be limited too, just as mages would be restricted.....

Custom spell system are always a pain in the rump, whoosh!
