Scarn - Undermountain - TRUE NECROMANCERS!
« on: July 02, 2011, 03:35:04 pm »

Scarn is a roleplay persistent world set loosely around the Scarred Lands. The server is a mixture of the Scarred Lands and a rebirth of the old Anchordeep PW.
Server location: Gamespy, roleplay tab
Direct connect: 71.245.164.36
Forums: http://nodata.proboards4.com
or join the Something Awful discussion here: http://forums.someth...hreadid=3378635
Hak Downloads: http://www.annakie.c.../ScarnFiles.rar

Features include:

  • CEP 2.2 and custom HAK required

  • Level range: 1-40

  • Alignments: Any

  • Races: All standard races and many subraces, including: Goblins, Minotaurs, Kobolds, Wemics, Vampires, Lizardmen, Ogres, Pixies, and more! Subraces are typically more powerful than normal races and ECL is implemented. Upon leveling up, a subrace loses a set amount of xp (based on his ECL) and must attain the level again to keep it. This ensures they don't soak any more xp than anyone else in the party, but still progress slower than normal races.

  • Low magic (For levels 1-20: +1 common, +2 rare, +3 findable but extremely rare. Epic level characters have items that are much more powerful)

  • Semi-Permadeath: Respawning possible at all levels, however, there is an XP penalty past level 5. Resurrection at later levels (respawn/raising with XP penalty)

  • Dead players leave corpses that can be brought to temples for raising

  • Bleed-to-death system

  • Medium monster XP, XP awarded for role play

  • Medium leveling speed (a bit faster at low levels).

  • Lots of highly detailed areas to explore

  • Lots of dungeons for all level ranges (Most dungeons scale with level, staying challenging for a broad level range)

  • Golem crafting: Dwarves with enough ranks of Craft Armor can craft Golems to use as henchmen. Crafted Golems grow in power at Craft Armor ranks of 10, 15 and 20.

  • Modified Necromancer/Palemaster prestige class: Necromancers can raise the corpses of just about ANY monster they come across in the world. These monsters become minions under the Necromancer's control until they die (again)! Palemasters gain even more control over these minions as they scale with the Palemaster's level and become more powerful.

  • A unique rest system that allows players to rest at (almost) any time. Resting takes time however (approx 10secs per level). This is designed to give enemy players the opportunity to come upon resting players and attack them off guard. Resting can be cancelled at any time, however, and the character keeps whatever hitpoints or spells he's gained up till that point. Resting in an Inn or Barracks (or other "safe" zones in the world) is instant.

  • New Spells, including a heavily modified version of Animate Dead!

  • Base classes adapted for DnD 3.5 rules (as far as it's possible in NWN)

  • Many unique items

  • Unique monsters found nowhere else!

  • Ridable Horses

  • Undermountain: Taken, painstakingly straight from the book.

  • COMING SOON: Gnome Illusionists!
My real goal here is to create a full PvP, player-driven, RP server, where I'll do my best add whatever content the players would like to see. Think you've earned enough of a reputation as a leader on the server, and want to move on to something better? I'll set up a vote among the players and elect you as king. I'll build you a castle and you can have your own guards and servants. I'd like the story of the world to be driven by the players. It needs to grow with them, not remain a static place where I log in after each reset and run to the nearest chest spawn. I honestly think that this is where NWN really shines, in persistent, story-driven, privately run servers. There's really no other game that does that better.

               that all sounds good except:

Low magic (+1 common, +2 rare, +3 findable but extremely rare)

I'll never understand the reasoning for some nwn servers to have +3 items extremely rare, this is 3rd edition not 2nd. you have a lv 40 cap not a lv 15 cap. Clerics are just going to be that much more poweful with their self armor/weapon buffs =/

low magic should be +5 items at lv 40. the game is balanced for +5 items

Oops...you're right, that was written originally when the game was up to level 20. Epic level characters can have much more powerful items. I'll correct it, thanks!

Sounds like a great server, I will be sure to check it out. Look for the pixie named "Timmy", the evil savage man-eating pixie '<img'>.
