The PRC Persistant World Project Needs Your Help. Check Us Out!
« on: October 24, 2010, 02:43:35 am »

Persistant World PRC Action. That is my goal. I would like to make a rather simple mod including all of the elements of the PRC a persistant world can handle. If you would like to be a part of a project, and make a good friend please reply to the post and say hello. Or if you feel better sending me a private message that always works aswell.

For those of you who don't know what the PRC is it is a hak pak for NWN and it adds a lot of character custimization content. Such as playable races, classes, and prestige classes. In the PRC you will see things like new spells, feats, skills, and magic or special power capabilities. This hakpak does not add just 1 or 2 new classes, but actually adds a TON! You can check it out at NWNPRC.com . Oh and the hak pak is only about 15 megabites total. So it is not a super large download to worry about.

The goal of this persistant world is to make a fun and enjoyable game where the more you play your going to feel like you made a good progress with your character. For example the further you go there will be better looking gear, cooler monsters with AI, and new features as you go along the game. Such as conquerable areas, waypoint system, rewarding secret areas, 1 henchmen per player where you can gain new henchmen if you can reach to them, and whatever else we can come up with. I feel not only a rewarding progress is the only thing that could make a server enjoyable, but I really think some elements of story and a small amount of roleplay is fun too. A story for all alignments. Then last but not least, I would like the AI and strategy of the NPC's and creatures make the players sit in there seats and contemplate how are they going to take on a area, encounter, or dungeon with there party. Expect enemies to do things like hide in plain sight then sneak attack or cast viscious spells in a rather difficult method. For character customization and better feel for the players we will be implementing all of the NWN and PRC skills to the PW module. Bluff, Persuade, and other unused skills in multiplayer servers will be used for the players.

Now lets talk loot. I want it to be fun. A high magic server. You wont encounter any super gear that takes care of all the parties problems, instead you will see loot help take on goals and roles for the party. For example when I say goals I mean one of the players in the party must set himself a goal for the party in order to survive. Say that goal is to protect a weaker character or try to threaten as many enemies as possible or be the character that takes on enemies from a distance that is the biggest threat to the party. Another thing I will be doing with loot is adding categories of quality to the item. It will usually, but not always go in this following order. Regular, Magical, Rare, Unique, Set. To be able to tell them apart from each other the particular item will be color coated and easy to spot out.

If this seems like the kind of PW for you. Please help us make the mod or atleast help make decisions for the server. Any suggestions, questions, and positive comments are welcome. Please don't respond if you are to bash the PRC, me, or anyone else.

P.S. Most definitally need more people for this project. Wont you join us?

This sounds exactly the the kind of PW for me. When I checked out the PRC, though, there were just too many balance problems to make use of it on an action server, so we wound up doing our own 'quasiclasses', some of them modeled after D&D prestige classes. The only way I can see this working is with extreme amounts of playtest, and a willingness on the part of the PRC to make adjustments based on that playtest, or a willingness on the part of your players to download modified PRC files if necessary. Please note, I have a great deal of respect for the coders and devs on the PRC, and I'm not bashing them (we actually use all their vfx, in fact), just offering my practical experience.
