               Yes, well Al fun is generally the primary objective of a video game... Just to clarify though, I am not the server host, and it is not my server. I am merely a player, who has also done some building work there... It is much more of a community porject than that, although the host always does have the ultimate say on things naturally.

               Well Jenna asked a similar question eariler. If you want to read my and Ken's responses see above. Balance means many things, to many people, in different contexts. If you have a specific question, feel free to ask, and I will as best I can when I can. If your looking for another example, I would put forth dev crit. Originally it was nerfed due to being overpowered. When the current server host took the reigns, he re-instated it. It quickly became it was indeed over powered, and so our most recent lead scripter/dev (other than the host) changed it so that OC gave increased critical threat range, and Dev Crit gave increased multiplier (both stacking with other similar feats.)

               To be honest, a level 400 toon is the exception not the norm. To my knowledge they only have one such legitimate player (ie. not a DM), and sadly he dosen't log in much any more (although we do have a few new area's that could prolly challange him now.) We do have a handfull of lvl 300+ and 200+ players, but even these are rather special. It takes alot of dedication to build such a toon. I myself have played there for over 8 years, and only have 2 lvl 140ish toons, a level 80ish, a few lvl 40-60ish, and a handfull of sub 40's. Truly a level 400 toon blows the snot out of most of the areas (although as I said we have a few now that would provide challange/reward for them.) The point is, Aventia is a PW that allows players to get to such epic levels, and if the demand, and the community interest is there, usually the aDMins are willing to further development for the purpose of  challangeing, and rewarding such players and/or the interest of the contributors (aka the community.)

Update:

About 2 weeks ago the previous server host Ralt shut down his servers. About a week ago Grench started hosting his own version of Aventia on his servers. Here is the link to his group. http://social.bioware.com/group/3383/


As of this morning I have opened up my own version of Aventia, Aventia 3 Unleashed, to the public. http://social.bioware.com/group/4586/

I still have alot of work to do but it is now live and open.


Any further updates I post here will be regarding Aventia 3 Unleashed, as I can not speak to what Grench is doing. Any Aventia host is welcome to post here however with what is happening with their world.

               Aventia 3 Unleashed is now password protected pending resolution of some issues with the mod and testing. Hopefully it will be made available to the public again soon. If the issues can not be resolved, well at least we can say, it lived hard, died fast, and left a beautiful memory.                My apologies to those who have dropped in to check out Aventia 3 Unleashed in the last week or so. I was premature in opening it up to the public with so many issues still pending. There is still a ton of work to do, but a lot of progress has been made, and it is now at the point where it should be playable for both new and returning players alike.

               LOL as you all may have guessed, yet again I jumped the gun a bit on this.

- I am sad to report I had to revert the mod to a couple days ago due to a bug with the subrace system I could not resolve. Hopefully I can fix it, and I am also looking at another system instead of the one I was trying, so we will see.

What this means though for now is they are still available, however only as QP or gold purchases, and have to be handled locally by me.

As one player put it "eh... that's to bad, but I made it to level 200+ with out them anyways so not a big loss." or something to that effect. Very true!

So a lot of people have been asking me what is different about Aventia 3 Merged compared to its’ predecessors, and contemporaries? Well a lot actually besides the obvious of the merger.


Some of the highlights are:

-Post Epic Level (PEL) ability bonuses which was inspired by ROT2 in NWN2. Now players can continue to gain ability points past level 40 in addition to our existing post 40 system. Which basically means AB, AC, DC’s, and post 40 damage are all uncapped now, along with having other effects for players.

-Ability to take subraces. While not fully integrated yet (still a WIP), they are available as a QP or GP purchase.

-Ability to bank (transfer) experience from any toon that has reached level 40, so that players can still get some use out of time spent on failed builds.

- And a lot more. Best way to check out some of the additional differences is to view the group, or see for your self in game:

New content is being added often, and as always community contributed content is very much welcome!

               Yep, Aventia has had babies. We look alike on the surface, but if you look close we are quite different. I will be holding some DM events and Quests this weekend on Aventia 3 Merged if there are enough players so it's a perfect opportunity for new and old players to get some QP, and check things out.
