« on: July 16, 2010, 10:17:02 am »

               Hello friends!
I'm running The Mistledale Project - a new RP server that has been out for about two months. We are still very small, community-wise, and are looking for role players who like to party up and go on a role playing adventures.

For more information, check out the links below.

See you out there '<img'>

Hello fellow RPers! I just wanted to let you know that we are close to finishing our item enchantment system. Anything you can equip can be enchanted. You only have to be any spellcaster of level 10 or more, and you must have a Token of Distinction, which can be obtained through quality role play. Oh, and you have to be rich. '<img'> Come see us sometime. You only need CEP 2.3

Have fun!

Hello, friends! If you haven't found a server to your liking yet, you are very welcome to try Mistledale.
We do not have a lot of fancy systems implemented. We only use CEP 2.3.
You won't find +6 items. We are low magic.
You won't rush to level 30, which is cap. We have fairly slow level advancement.
You won't find powergamers. We have a token system to assure quality role play.
You won't be over-geared. You can buy up to +2 items, +5 items are very rare, and can only be looted at the most dangerous places.
You will find it hard to solo, although not impossible. We highly encourage party role play adventuring.
You won't perma-die. We have a small xp and gold penalty when your PC dies.

You will find that loot is very varied. We have the DMG loot table, plus thousands of custom loot.
You will find that your spellcaster PC can enchant items pemanently.
You will find a rich, beautifully designed world laden with Forgotten Realms lore.
You will find Mistledale to be very friendly to new players, with informative NPC's.
You will be able to travel to Netherese tombs, the Underdark, the surrounding Cormanthor forest and of course, to fabled Myth Drannor, painstakingly built using the boxed set "Ruins of Myth Drannor".
You will find the DM Staff to be very mature and helpful.

You will find Mistledale under the Role Play section in GameSpy multiplayer.
All you need is CEP 2.3. All we need is you.

What level of DM interaction can new players expect?

Sorry for the slow response. Been having some login issues. We used to have a static IP, but lately, we have been running with a dynamic IP. As to DM attention... we are based in Europe and so far we only have european DM's, but DM attention is high when we're not sleeping.

But, to tell the truth, we could attract only a handfull of players. Most of them, which are friends from the good old days, are away due to RL stuff. The rest of the regulars simply haven't returned after our tech-related downtime earlier this year. We ran the server for two months without any regulars loging in, only some random accounts where created during this time. The server was empty near all the time.

So, we eventually, our hearts filled with sorrow and sadness, just decided not to put Mistledale up again. This is very disheartening, because our players felt there was so much potential in this place. So did we, of course, and we still do.

I mean, a fully fledged and aesthetically appealing rendition of Mistledale, every map crammed with stuff to do. The surrounding Cormanthor forest; the Underdark, and even the nearby ruins of Myth Drannor is in the module.
Our vision was a basic, yet beautiful world to tell stories in and have the players go on role playing adventures. The world was to be DM story-driven, but yet free to explore for the players, creating their own stories.

One of our visions was to use only CEP as haks and keep the server as low tech as possible. The emphasis were on story-telling and role play, not luring players with fancy systems like PRC and such.

Another vision was very few rules. We wanted the players to have total freedom role playing wise, using common sense as a guide, within the basic races. The only other race to play was the Drow, due to the return of the dark elves to Cormanthor. The Drow play a major role in the setting and we wanted to give the players the choice of playing on either side of the fence. This would create PVP situations, which were to be role played and supervised by a DM.

Storytelling-wise there is a TON of stuff to tell and role play, and the lore of Mistledale is just mind-blowing. The creation of Mistledale; the wars; Tempus' presence during the Time of Troubles, and the return of the Drow is just some of the key points in Mistledale lore.

We really burn for this place, and it is so disheartening to see it gone. It's just too hard competing with the established servers. I read somewhere that there is only some 1200 active NWN players, and obviously, most have found their servers.

We will take a small break from NWN now, but I have a feeling I'm going to fire up NWserver again... soon.

That's too bad... still I've found that a break is needed from the game from time to time, especially if you're DMing and/or building.

Please let us know when this goes back up.

Thanks for putting up the server Snottling '<img'> I agree, beautiful, a very good use of the CEP tiles and placeables. I realized very early on that this was built with much attention to detail as the world, least the bit I experienced was alive with NPC's who mostly had something to say, such as a greeting (which adds atmosphere)

I found it very easy to get started, the NPC's drew me into the surrounds and happenings quickly without feeling shoehorned to any goofy level. I can see this as a very good mod to DM on. Lots of varied scenery to work with. Plenty of varied loot and the like. Lots of eye candy. I felt like I was in a world that breathed due to all those little details.

It's a very fresh mod and a shame you lost the regulars. I know that most folks I have spent time RPing with and dungeon crawling would have liked this server. I like the low level dungeons, a good D&D feel developed right from the start. And I liked the "old timer" in the tavern slurpping grog with me and telling the tales of the land...nice touch.

If you have anything planned send me a message, I would like to experience the environment in a group...I think it would be good fun.

Be well, and thanks for the peek, muvs32

Thanks a lot for the good review, muvs32 '<img'> Heh, it's funny how a few well put words can inspire you. I will leave the server up for now. Then we'll see how it goes.

Take care,
Snottling

So, I got to check out the server agin, this time Snottling, with your wife for company:) Sorry we didn't see you log in NWN DM, we would have had you along for certain (only saw when you loged out!)

W RP'ed and I enjoyed that...easy to group up and get into an adventure. The place is fun and easy to start as I posted before...but a good setting for events too I have to assume.

I will be back tomorrow probably, early eve for you Euro crowd, hope to see ya's then.

               Long Lost Lore adventure
Mistledale, 1372. Once peaceful and prosperous, Mistledale is now under attack from the Drow. What’s more, an ancient item of power has fallen into the hands of Evil. Will they succeed in descifering it before the heroes arrive? Its true meaning must not be discovered!

Lord Heresk of Ashabenford sends the PC's on a wild chase across Mistledale and its surroundings, even into fabled Myth Drannor. Will the heroes make it in time?

I am planning to run a four (4) sessions campaign. Each session will last for roughly 4-6 hours.

The campaign starts May 6th.
Since I am in Europe, play times may be an issue. I plan to start out 19:00 (GMT+1), that's 1 pm US eastern time.

I'm looking for a group of adventurers of about 10th level characters. A good mix should do fine.

Since I am running a Server Vault, PC's must be created on the server. You start at level 3 when you log in.
I am going to run daily quests to get the PC's familiar with the land, and to be able to level up in the process. As a last resort, I can give you the levels you need to participate.
But, I urge you to visit Mistledale today, and get aquainted with the server.

You will find Mistledale in the Role Play section of GameSpy. You will also need CEP 2.3 or greater.

Apply to join the adventure here, or on NeverwinterConnections! Adventure name is Long Lost Lore.

See you in Mistledale!
