What level of DM involvement can a new player expect?

Depends...if you play a freaking long eared elf then one of the other 8 dms can take care of you but if you play a noble Stout, as much as you want.'Posted

Honestly it depends on what times you play. Lately we have been pretty heavy handed with some dm attention and players have been digging it. We have 4 very active QLs and 3 of the other Staff had to step back a bit to get a large update ready.

Apprently though we have been pretty good compared to some servers but that could just be players kissing up, lol.

               Having a few more Staff to round out our ever present playerbase would be quite awesome. What we normally do is have 2 Staff per area to our PW as kind of like the Main Plot Persons in that area. If you feel very knowledgable in any of these areas then please by all means hit us up by folling the White Rabit in my signature below.

We have several Staff already from Quest leaders (aka DMs) to Builders but could always use some more.

  • Evermoors Includes Nesme

  • Moonwoods Includes Moonvine

  • Moonlands Quar and The Standing Stone

  • Nether Mts Includes Khelb/Lhuv

  • Rauvin Vale Includes HighHold, Holly, & RWK

  • Silverwood Includes Silverymoon

  • Frost Hills Includes Mithral Hall/Fell Pass

  • Underdark Grakstulgh & Meno as well

                Hello all..T.S.M. Dude, I just wanted to express my thanks to you and the TSM community for welcoming me back around. I logged in under another user name (Harrytroll) but ejoyed playing my 'stout' Orli enough that I will probably continue to do so. (Have a Bard on the muvs32 account too:blush:

 I just wanted to give my thoughts, as a new/returning player on what to expect from TSM : when you log in as a newcomer you will get some greetings by the player base and offers of assistance if needed. You will be able to get started fairly easily even if on your own at first. You can expect DM interaction even at Lvl 1, as I received last night when my PC discovered a crime scene. Always cool when one can become involved at early level...and it wasn't cheesy either '<img'>
I ended up in a party and felt right at home RPing with the others, no "who are you" stuff, a quite natural RP developed, and that is always a good sign.

 The place has changed soooo much since last I'd been there (last spring) Now that I am back I expect to be lurking the server on a regular basis. Thanks for the hand-crafted and genuin effort of the TSM staff, it is a fine server and much worth an investment of a few hours to check it out. By then you will likely have met a couple fellow players and had some fun exploring the city and some of the awesome surronds.

Also, seems like lot's to do for all classes here, which I highly support and tip hat to! Being that players can and will change the look and story of the server (regularly) gives it a life of it's own..another tip! Don't know too much about it but the economy seems to make sense as well, world is very detailed and thought out. Good stuff!

 Hope you don't mind me posting this TSM Dude, just wanted to leave some feedback and thanks. You'r pashion for NwN (D&D) shows in your contributions to the community and especially you server! I feel compelled to give my endorement (not that I carry much weight 'round here:) as the server is very well built and run.

TSM is definitely  worth the investment of time to check out, or check back in to see how the world has ghanged and grown!

               1/ Thank you for the kind words, Muvs and glad to see you back. I passed it on to the QL who ran that episode.

Now on to a quick announcement;

Please answer the poll TSM and let me know what you all think.

On Monday this Poll closes and we will tally the votes. Then open up another smaller discussion in Skype to discuss this or IM or whatever you all want to do. We can even use the Chat here.

This is a HUGE thing for TSM and not something we want to take lightly. Please let us know what you all think before then.
Poll is found here;

               After hitting 50 votes and seeing the results it seems many people were for at least some type of hak. Moulinous has stated it is now or never with this build and after discussing it at length in Skype we have come to agree that is finally come to the time to jump ahead and do the hak for the server.

This will be done as easily and as painlessly as we can for the May 15th update. We will let Moulinous go ahead and decide the haks and what not and then put them up in once again, in the easiest format for us as a Community to download. There is no plans for 37 haks so no worries there.

Most will be tilesets, an optional music hak, and a hak to adjust a few of the classes as well as some spells and race choices.

We would like to thank you all for your input and we look forward to seeing you all here for the next few years.

               I just received a message and I am a bit hurt...I am posting it here and on our forums as our server has always been the friendly one and the fact we excluded a player...ANY player bothers me quite a bit. I know it sounds quaint and I am seen as some old gaming hippy eager for a One Community feel but I wanted to let you know that I have posted this exact thing to our forums and I am posting it here.

The Silver Marches will always be a Community based server or it will not be a server. Simple as that and I apologize to any player who found us to be less than forthcoming on inclusion.

I've had polite welcoming tells from a few people, but when I actually get anywhere near other characters to rp, I can tell they're not really interested in what my pc has to say. Usually I chalk this up to 'established playerbase in tells with each other/they figure I'm not here for the long haul so why bother?'.
End Quote

I just received this on the BioWare boards...
That aint us is it? Are we now that type of server?
I think we need to go back and reread this thread.
We were a server who prides itself on greetings and hellos. We welcomed new players. We included them in our rp.
We are not some elitist server. We want to attract players sure...but more than that we want to include them and keep them.
You high level people...you playing those damn subraces...log out if a new player comes on and log in with a low level if you can.
Inspire and role play and smile and greet.

               I'm inclined to disagree with that. While I've lurked the forums for a long time, I haven't really put in that much gametime. Last night was the first time I've stepped foot in the server for a couple months - every face (except one) was new to me. I walked out of the inn and didn't make but 300 feet towards the main gates before running into a group of people already knee-deep in their own roleplay.
Instead of 'being disinterested' in me, they sucked me in. I believe that persons experience to be an isolated incident.

               Okay...I am not going to have the TSM Special Hak ready with the spells/class/race fixes done by the 15th. I want it to be. I feel like I can do it before this weekend...but then reality is setting in that though on paper I might have the time I dont think i will.

There is still the Update this 15th and then another on the 16th with tilesets but no, I will not have the major life affirming changes (lol) done by the 15th.

I just cannot do it.

So yes you all do need to download the tilesets haks and I will post the links to those TODAY/TONIGHT but you do not need them till the 16th.

I just will not have it done with the TSM hak for the other stuff because to be honest there is a ton of different 2das to look through and testing to see what you guys need and what JUST the server needs is taking longer than I thought.

Once again, the class/spell/race hak complete with portraits and loadscreens and all that as well as some music will not be done till June 1st because I am slower at this than I thought.

The tilesets and may 15th/16th will have several HUGE updates to our modules still like Mithral Hall, Everlund and the Underdark. These will be done for sure as they are actually done now.

On top of that, next week i will be moving the server itself over to a new server box at my house while Stone moves and settles in. I need to buy and set it up and am waiting till after the 16th to do this.

When he moves to Florida though he is sooooo getting it back.

So please bear with me guys and gals...

               We have finally gone ahead and added the hak requirement ot our Server. This has allowed us to expand on severa features we used to do through scripting alone. I think you will find this will greatly enhance your please on our server as it has reawakened in our Builder Team a new sense of pride.

First and foremost we still use CEP 2.4 at the moment. We would like to thank them for all they have done and when you download it giving them a thumbs up would be a nice thing to do.

CEP 2.4 Hak

This will be the tilesets that we are adding.

Complete City Rural

Senemenelas' Underdark Tileset

Versatile Dungeon

classic Dungeon

You will not be needing the Den of Assasins Rural Set as it was added into the Builder Mod by mistake and is already PART of the Complete City Rural so no reason to download at all and it will be taken out asap.

We also will be adding in the Community Music Pack as well. There is several ways to download this and at the moment I have not decided whether to make it optional or not and am very much leaning towards it being optoinal but I have listed for you all to download if you want. It is highly recommonded and does very much enhance a lot of things.

It does have options to be dled by dial up or faster means. once again this will NOT be needed to join the server and is optional. If you are in anarea where we use it you just will not "hear" the music is all.

Community Music Pack - CMP

There will be later on another hak that is JUST for our server.

This will be called the TSM Hak.

It will have changes to classes both mundane and prestige as well as changes to spells, crafting, races, monsters, and even add in about 40 spells, 30 domains, and make deity selections very fun.

               I am not going to lie. I do not want to wait. I really do not. I feel it is unkind to players as well to ask them to wait on their storylines so I took a long time of thinking last night what to do…

I listened to music, talked to the wife….drank a few beers and then like all great decisions in my life I went surfing. The salt water scrubs all the worries and trepidations from my body like a balm of plus 10 healing kits.

Here is what I have come up with;

On the Staff side;
We will finish the War plot line as it is nearing its conclusion I think. We will put on hold the next two Major Server Story Arcs till the updates hit. We will push forward on regualr PCs storylines.

On the Player Side;
We will not force anyone to wait here and will continue with the five player stories going on which includes the Orphans of War, the Redemption of the Shortness and The Shadowy Network and several others I need not mention.

On My Side;
I will be doing a update on the 16th which is Monday still that will update a lot of areas and some scripts. It will also address some bugs and a few other things. It will nto do anything to Crafting which is now different but it will address summons/familiars/compainons and SubRaces.

The main reason why we are going to wait a few days is I need to set up a new server box, finish the Forgotten Realms hak, and my son has his play these next couple of weeks and my daughters birthday is this month so adding all that in makes these last few days very hectic for me and I do not want to do this half-arse especially with setting/buying the new server box.

So;

  • There will be a update but not the full haked update yet. It still will be quite large.
  • Storylines will not be stopped except the Major Arcs on Staff side and those have not really started.
  • We will be finishing the War one way or another in the next few days.
  • The Main Server Changing Update is pushed back to about June 1st so I have time to get the new server box up as well.
  • We will start training our two new Quest Leaders now.
  • Did I miss anything?

               Something someone posted on our forums today.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been playing DnD for 'a long count of years' and nwn off and on for about 7yrs and tonight ranks as some of the most fun and exciting rp I've had in tabletop games and RP PWs. Huge thanks to DM Kerym and DM Venificus for the event. It was probably one of the best coordinated scenarios for combat I've ever seen, and the way people responded to each other and the situation was (imho) realistic and wholly dynamic. It's one thing to fight in a group of 4-7 adventurers, its quite another to take in a large-scale battle with 30 on either side, give or take! Not to mention the appearance of a few Realms legends. I took a lot of screenshots of Bavragor fighting alongside the Eighth (and Tenth) king of Mithral Hall, don't ye doubt! When the shout text appeared that there was another force approaching from the north my first thought was 'Man it'd be great if those were dwarves.' I was certainly not disappointed!

I was particularly thrilled that people emoted the tension and the battling itself, it wasn't just people using voice commands and autoclicking their way through the fight. Battle rp does not get revered the same way that interpersonal rp does, but sometimes the best way to see a characters true colors is witnessing how the player has them behave in a large scale fight.

So in no particular order here are the characters involved. Sometimes it's as simple as a well-written emote or an action taken, but tonight proved for me this server has some really stellar rpers. I hope I fit in and don't disappoint.

Daisy (Go go Team Trebuchet!)
Nienna
Autumn
Banril
Cham (Go go Team Trebuchet!)
Von Ercarth (Apologies as I think I misspelled that)
Iluris
J'brith
Fynlar
Tyree (Thanks for all the healing:)
Kathelia
Shin
Varoli

And for the people who showed up to the 'Epic Name's-strewn honor ceremony. Seeing Alustriel brought to such regal life had me grinning a bit like a fanboy. Seeing Taern and Jorus makes me eager to see more of them portrayed. I figure Methrammar and Sernius were off in another part of the city helping with reconstruction efforts

Fynril (I know I butchered that, my apologies. And thanks for the conversation earlier too.)
Fordin! A fellow Stout! (Sorry, I'm biased)
Hawkeye (Another very friendly person oocly, it's been appreciated)

To anyone I forgot or names I misspelled I apologize profusely but tis late and I must sleep.

In general another thank you to those who have welcomed me to the server. I've been hesitant about throwing myself into a new server after my old one collapsed on the weight of too much ego, but I do not see that being an issue with TSM.

“Tantam!”
How is it going my fellow, orcsnacks? The most obvious news is that once again our inept builder/scripter has had to push the update back to June 1st. Some quick highlights;

The War has finally ended with Silver Marches beating back the horde. May the True Gods watch over their souls. It was quite a epic adventure lasting I was told well into five hours of bravery, treachery, and enjoyed by no less than 15 players and 3 Quest Leaders. Bravos!

Another not so well known quest also took place but it too has equal Big Time Epic Impact on our server…the Seldarine have acted in unison causing all Drow with the vaguest possibility of becoming good to be turned into Dark Elves, as they were before the Descent. Those who remain ebon-skinned and white-haired are the truly guilty and wicked among the Drow, without redemption possible, so ingrained are they in either Lolth's protection or influence.

Because of this and some notable Players and their actions a new SubRace the Dark Elf is formed and can be read about on the SubRace thread under the Elf Heading. These Dark Elves are not Drow but it remains to be seen how well they are treated. This race along with drow will be available June 1st.

Some rumors though have bubbled up in our realms as well that Dragons have become increasingly seen flying about. That a war is brewing in the Underdark as the Drow and Lolth herself find the meddling of Eilistraee a bit unsettling. And there is even talk that the Red Wizards of Thay have asked to build an enclave in Everlund!

Haks;
I need you all to make sure to dl the haks listed on the forums asap. I will list them again and continue to develop a hak just for us to make this much easier as soon as humanly possible.

On the Staff side;
We welcome not one, not two, but four new Staff including TWO Quest Leaders and TWO builders! There is also rumors of a scripter joining but at the moment that is unsure. We will keep you posted.

On the Host PC;
Moul will be purchasing a new PC next week and will start the move over asap. This is hopefully a temporary thing until Stoney makes way to the Land of Sun and Geriatrics. If it becomes longer I will see about making sure to get something purdy powerful to keep things running awesomely awesome.

               Omgad I made logo on this thread '<img'>. Love this RP server, so much fun.

Also... I am looking for a few good Torm folk for an Order... I'd say 'a few good men' but I'm an equal opportunity employer '<img'>
