Encounter spawns change depending on faction status?
« on: September 30, 2015, 11:46:26 am »

Okay this is what i been pondering:

1) is it possible to make encounters spawn depending on your faction choice. Like for example we got 2 factions in the game. Good and  evil and depending if you joined/affiliated yourself with one of the two factions you will be facing  a different foe than when you are part of the other faction.

2) if it is possible how do I go about doing that?

In the advanced tab of the encounter properties, there is a box for choosing faction. Normally an encounter will spawn if the encounter faction setting is hostile to the PC entering the encounter trigger. The default setting is hostile, which means the creatures chosen will spawn to everyone. If you select guard type creatures, and set this faction to defender, then these guards will only spawn to PCs who are hostile to the guards (ie, an evil faction). Therefore if you have two factions, good and evil, if you set the faction box to evil, then the creatures will only spawn for good PCs. For evil PCs, set the faction box to good. I hope I explained it well enough. If not, can experiment with the faction settings.

I forgot to mention, that for every location you wish to have an encounter, you will need two encounter triggers. One including evil creatures (vampires, demons, skeletons), with the encounter faction set to evil. Another one including good creatures (women, men, vampire hunters), with the encounter faction set to good. Both of these triggers will share the same location. Therefore when a PC enters these triggers, the appropriate one will spawn creatures for the PC to fight.

For an example, a vampire enters the triggers. Since the vampire is evil, the trigger set to evil will do nothing, but the trigger set to good will spawn some goodie goodies.
