I'm trying to make an area that has whiteout so there's pretty much zero visibility, that's the easy part. But now I'm trying to make it so that if a player has say, x equipped item, their perceived environment will change. But only for them, it'll shift the area lighting properties and such just for that particular character and no one else, unless other people also happen to have said item equipped. The afforded item will make it very easy for players to see, in practice, and without it it's almost impossible to see anything.
