PC view map on a table
« on: December 07, 2013, 11:41:06 am »

               Hey all,

A random thought just hit me. Has anyone ever been able to have a map lying on a table and when the player clicks on it, it shows an overland map of the area the module is taking place in? This was done in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and I thought it would be cool to have something like that in NWN. I know it's probably not doabel but just thought I'd ask.

It seems to me it MIGHT be doable by using the same trick that was used in SoU, when the PC looks into the crystal ball and sees a different area.

Just wonderin'...

Depends on how you want the area map to be displayed.  You could have the area map as an entire module area and teleport the PC there (possibly with an appearance change) with a way to teleport back.

If you are looking at small regions within an area then this is just cutscene mode with a cutscene invisible appearance and a change of camera position.
