BIC file trouble
« on: July 30, 2012, 06:58:01 pm »

 Greetings.

I am having a bit of trouble importing a local vault bic into a mod using Leto. I am doing the actual process NPC-PC correctly from what I can tell by following various guides which then transforms the BIC into ERF in order to be able then to import it into your mod via aurora toolset.

Everything seems to be followed through correctly and imported but then I cannot find the imported character in my toolset anywhere, not in custom/special/creatures/items/placables anywhwere? Any clues? Is there anyother ways (scripts / programs / methods) that can do this (transfering a local vault BIC char into a mod to be then manipulated through aurora toolset)?

     Thanks in advance.

Hmm,  First I have never used Leto.   So I have no Idea what instructions you are following, I can only comment on what does not make since.

First the Toolset/module  does not have Bic files.  Even if one is imported into the toolset, It will not be able to do anything with the file.  The only time a Bic file will be in a module is when it is a saved game( .sav file).  If you open up a saved game in the toolset, that has a bic file in it, the bic file gets  lost when the module is resaved.

An ERF file is a bunch of files, or just one file, packed  into a single file.   If the file you are placing into the ERF is a .bic file the toolset just does not know what to do with it.

I assume that you are tring to turn your PC int a NPC then import him into the module.   If that is the case open the ERF file you are creating and make sure that the file you are placing into it is not the .bic file.

You can open the ERF file with nwhak.exe or nwexplorer.

Lightfoot, thanks for the response. I tried both of those methods that you suggested but I still could not get a BIC file into my mod. Could you be kind enough to give me a step by step on how to do this with either one of those programs you mentioned. I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm doing something wrong in the process.

Thanks.
