modifying spells
« on: October 24, 2011, 11:43:03 pm »

Not sure this is a scripting item?

Would like a simple and best way to extend spell times, how long the spell lasts. for scrolls, potions and spells cast.

I have tried searching the forums but I must be cursed because I cant get anything to return on the search?

Any ideas would be appreciated.'<img'>

Spell durations are defined and calculated within the individual spell scripts, usually based on caster level.  If you want a good way to get the scripts you need to edit, check NWNWiki, where each spell description lists the script used for that spell.

Searching these forums is a real problem :-/ A friend of mine pointed out that useing the "site:" arguement on google is pretty spiffy :-) <he did *not* say spiffy> Well, maybe.  Another pointed out that the use of "+" and "-" also helps fine tune things.

So a search of these forums [edit: on *google*] for "site:social.bioware.com customize spells " gives about 1,500 results.

You could also try the vault where many spells have already been altered for you. You may agree or not with the alteration(s)  though you can see what they did and make changes as you wish. Also many spells that people find objectionable have been altered with explantions as to why those said spells were changed.

Also, if you havent touched your spells yet, you may consider to install either my unofficial patch that except many fixes also adds many new spell related features.

or the precedessor to this project: Script, spell fix compilation

Thanks for the tips...I swear Shado0ow,  if you got a nickel for every promo of your "unofficial patch" you could retire...lol..maybe someday..but I think for now we might nerf a few spells (probably the ones others have), and extend the durations on a few for a new module/PW..The NWN1 community rocks..thanks again..
