Prisoners of the mist death system.
« on: March 07, 2011, 04:14:23 pm »

I like the death system they have on this server and would like to use it.Unfornately i dont have the scripts.I cant script well and hope somewhere down the road someone will have time to write it up.

When a player dies his body stays there but is able to be picked up.
The player turns into a ghost which is only visable to other players when he is within 10 feet.
If raise dead is cast on the body the player is returned to normal state.

I have not looked at Axe's system that closely, but does not AxeMerderer's killer death system do all that?  Or at least all but the ghost part.

It seems a little different his sends you to a place allowing you a option to respawn at a church or wait for a raise if i read it correctly.Id actually want the player to stay in the same area next to his body...........just as a ghost.

This one is very similar.  It contains options for ghosts and carryable corpses, I believe.

Im not really sure about that one ........it seems it has a few items and most likely a ton of scripts attached to it.If i tested it out and didnt like it it would probally take a long time to remove from my mod.I bumped a topic in ravenloft forums but i dont expect them to reply.I guess ill have to look into the link you posted theres just so much in there to read. Some of the comments on the script mention errors but im not sure if thats from people just making there own mistakes.I have doubts.

The HABD does that and is very well documented for even nonscripters.

The Ravenloft PotM death system is likely just as involved as this script set.  I've spoken with the lead designer (Zarathustra) who developed the scripted systems for PotM, and he told me that the script systems are all very interlinked for efficiency.

The only major difference I can see is that this system is supposed to be more flexible with more options for different tastes, whereas PotM's is tailored to that PW.

HABD could also be useful in helping you get started designing your own death system, if you decide to go that route, since it has the systems you are looking for.  Examples are always a big help.  It is also very well-documented, as TSMDude pointed out.  For myself, I've delved into it for ideas.
Good luck! '<img'>

Make a copy of your current module with a slight name change ... then add the new system. If it fails ... there's nothing needed but to delete that module and go back to the original one. It's been a while ago that I talked to him (via their PW forum.)  I asked him a few questions about how he had achieved a few things, and he gave me some pointers.  He mentioned that while he would be happy to send me a certain script, that it was very tailored to Ravenloft PotM.

PW scripts typically aren't just plug and play, you would have to do an enormous amount of rewriting, so I don't think it will be the kind of easy help you are hoping for.  It would only really be useful as an example and for ideas.
