Where's the bloody gaze visual effect?
« on: October 05, 2010, 05:21:36 am »

Been searching for over an hour and I see no sign of it. You know, the barrage of circles used with medusa/basilisk stone gaze that goes wooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuaaaaarrrrrrrr. That one. After searching Lexicon and scripts with Biosearcher it seems to be a no-show. Anybody know what gives? I want to use it for a custom Taunt skill ability.

Many of the visuals for spells are hardcoded and can not be applied with EffectVisualEffect.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure this is one of them. Pretty much any effect that has to be directed towards some object, is an effect that can not be individually applied. The only ones that can do this are the beam effects. It's too bad they didn't include the gaze, cone of cold, burning hands, etc..in with the beam effects so that they could be applied the same way.

That would make sense with what I've observed... but how annoying.

Fortunately I have an idea... there are a bunch of monster gaze abilities that I'll never use like Gaze: Destroy Chaos, so I'll just make the Taunt ability cast Gaze: Destroy Chaos and then change the Gaze: Destroy Chaos script to do what I want. BRILLIANT! It'll show up funny in the combat log, but that's a small cost.
