Cutscene Invisibility - bug?
« on: October 04, 2010, 09:42:30 am »

               Hello,

I'm currently working on a cutscene and something strange is happening when I put the Cutscene_Invisibility visual on a player character:  the screen fades to black...or it's more like the character is blind. Anyway I can't see a thing while this effect is applied. It does the same when applied in or out a cutscene.

I recall I had the very same issue a few years ago and coujldn't find anything to fix it.

Am I missing something? Is there another function to add in conjunction with this one? Or is it a bug?

Still trying to fix that bug/

So far I know that:
- Something in the haks is not causing this.
- It works well on other mods, so it's not my computer.

What else could it be? :/

That looks like VFX_DUR_BLACKOUT, which is only one number off normal VFX_DUR_INVISIBILITY. What makes you think it isn't haks causing it? Swapping vfx in haks is fairly commonplace among some players - you can, for example, make things that developers intended to be invisible, visible, or make blackout not effect you, amongst other sneakiness (doing this requires certain preconditions, but I'm not about to explain these exploits). The most likely explanations that I can think of are:

1) You're applying the wrong vfx somehow.

2) You've overriden the invisibility, VFX_DUR_CUTSCENE_INVISIBILITY or otherwise, with the blackout effect.

3) You have a corrupt file (and this is a distant third). Fix would be reinstall, but I'm not recommending that, to be clear, not yet anyway.

               Fixed it!

The 'bug' is in fact due to the area light to be set on "Reset to Black". >_<
It works well when it is set on something else, like "Interior Dark".
