               Hi

I have a mod built using classic NWN's toolset which allows any owner of NWN, SOU and HOTU to join and play.
That means only  content which already contained in classic NWN and patches up to v1.69 is allowed.

Now I know that classic NWN including patch 1.69 (ie: NWN classic) includes spell scripts for Epic spells like HellBall and Greater Ruin. The problem is, when I try to edit the mod using NWN classic, it won't let me select any Epic spells to put on say a scroll or magic staff item. This is probably not surprising because Bioware may not want owners of NWN classic to have access to anything above Level 20.

However, the Epic spell scripts are there in NWN classic! Is there any way to get them onto an item for use in the mod by players with only NWN classic? Like a scroll or wand. Or will this take a hakpak? Hakpaks mean players have to download the hakpak first right?

I seem to recall in the past players could "hack" their items and character to get feats or abilities outside the usual rules. Then they could export these items into a mod for the general use of everyone else. There was no need for a hakpak per se (if you may recall, a guy named "Zurc" was a hacker/scripter who did this way back in nwn classic)

Have you tried simply making a blueprint for that item in a 1.69/HOTU mod, exporting it as a ERF (File >> Export), and then importing it into your NWN module?

i should try that!!!! much thanks !!! if i get a result i'll let u guys know.

it works!

here's how we did it :-
1) Create the item say a scroll using a NWN HOTU installed toolset. I stuck mine in the custom items, magic items, scroll area.
2) Export the item scroll under the toolset as an erf file
3) Open the erf file using NWNPACKER.exe (i think you may also be able to use NWN's erf editor not sure) which can be downloaded from Sorceror's place.
http://www.sorcerers...ex_editors3.php
4) using nwnpacker, export the *.uti portion of the file
5) Go back to your NWN HOTU install and open the module. While the module is open, copy the uti file into the module0 directory in the nwn folder. This directory should be in \\\\nwn\\\\modules\\\\module0.
6) In the toolset "Build" the module to see that nothing too critical is missing.
7) Save the module. Exit toolset.
8) Reopen the module and see if you can see the item in the custom items, magic items, scroll area. I saw mine there! I then clicked on it and placed the item into the centre of my module.
9) Exit Toolset, open module as a player. Pick up the scroll and have fun!

the item will have a blank white square in the spell section because nwn classic may not have the icon for it but it works!

alternative explanation of the hack
