Flight & Swimming Mechanics
« on: January 05, 2016, 04:16:31 am »

How did some people manage to get flight(via dragon mount as it appeared in Dragonlance Chronicles) to work in NWN and what about swimming? I made swimming animations for several creatures but ended up making two versions of the same kind(one land, other aquatic). I also forget to mention jumping and climbing(for climbing this video here at around 4:08  )

There are many more custom animations in that video link, including the humping dragons.

Flying on a dragon mount I'm not sure about - the flying dragon tails in CEP sit above the player's head, though perhaps the models could be z-adjusted to look OK.

CEP has a flying phenotype (Superman-stylee) which doubles as swimming.

C.R.A.P. has climbing animations for ropes and holes. There are corresponding scripts in CEP, but I had to tweak them.

Failed Bard made some even more adventurous climbing & jumping animations.

There's probably more. I imagine Project Q has most / all of this, too.

ZugothNDeadly: To what dragons are you referring? What DL-Chronicles? The DLCR server?

Anyways: If you were writing about those, those dragons are complete creature models (including the "rider") and thus hold their own animation. The "mounting" is accomplished by a complete appearance change of the PC in to the "mounted dragon" model = it's still the PC with all the stats, inv. and such, but "just" has a different look. Those models are available in the Dragons CCC and have been worked into CEP 2.6 (if I remember right).

@ZugothNDeadly, Have you looked at Demangels Dragon Riding System?

The jumping and climbing animations shown in that video are mine.  The clip was recorded in the testing area I had set up for getting the scripts set up to allow for including sinfar's visual scaling and z adjusting features.

The "dragon's humping" animation is just spasm.

Some of the others in there were mine as well.  The two dances shown were both, I believe, from NinjaWeaselMan's romantic animations set.

You could be interesting in: "Flying NPCs, Succubus, Erinyes, Vampires, and Kobolds" animations by "StoneMonkey". They are good animations for flying humanoids, but I have found that useful for swimming humanoids too.
