Ceilings for all Interior's
« on: August 20, 2015, 08:34:51 pm »

Ok I know a lot of us try to stay away from NWNCQ, but it does a great job of completely reskinning all tilesets and adding ceilings to all of them. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying I like all the textures it uses, because I don't. Like a lot of others I have became a big fan of Zwekules Facelift haks vs NWNCQ, but I would like for all my interiors to have ceilings. So is there a hak or haks that adds ceilings to all the interiors other then NWNCQ. I have done some searches for ceilings but so far I'm not having a lot of luck.

Thanks for your time.

I'll just say that adding ceilings is a laborious task.

What I did to get the crypt tileset ceilings in Avernostra was open up CQ and take copies of all the tileset MDL's and place them in my own haks without the textures. The models are fine. CQ overrides textures so all the ceiling models use the base names of the textures the tileset uses for the most part. I'm using the override for the crypt tileset that Pstemarie packaged up in this screenshot.

You can do the same thing with tilesets from CQ. Henesua made a great easy one to use here.

This is on my to-do list for Q. Mind you, I'm going to pilfer what I can from NWN CQ.

Great news. I know Q added some custom crypt tiles too. Those would need to be built I imagine.

So it wont cause any problems if I only pull the interior .mdl files out of NWNCQ and put them in a my own hak?

I just found out the answer to my question is NO.

I took only the tdr_  .mdl files out of NWNCQ and the shafts of light that come the the ceilings in places and the plants are jacked up so I must need something else.

Found it plc_lightshaft03

now I think I have all the NWNCQ ruin tileset mdl files working in a hak by there self using all the standard textures and what not. I'm really just after the ceilings and they are working for this tileset so far.

Well I got the crypts ceiling working as well but if you try to use them with Shadooow's various tileset additions raised areas then where you raise the area there will be no ceiling. '<img'>  That sucks because I really liked the idea of being able to raise dungeons, caves, and crypts ground level.

Hey thanks a lot for pointing out that I could take the mdl files from NWNCQ I have most of the interiors with ceilings now. I will still keep working on this till I have them all.

I know that I still know very little when it comes to working with tilesets but man I feel like I have learned a good bit over the last few weeks. So thanks for taking the time to help me along. All of you here on the forums are a great group of people.

I still use Hardpoints' ceilings from A Dungeons and Dragons for the crypts and some other tilesets chico didn't touch. Despite being mirrored tiles, I find some to be more logical than simple, domed ceilings. The Sewers' roof even gives a sort of claustrophobic vibe. You can mix and try several different styles for each tileset, since they can even be "divided" into smaller sub-sets, like the city interior and exterior, rural, etc. It makes them more varied.

Once there will be standardization into ceiling, I will provide these tiles with ceiling. Till that time...
