Is it possible to make this game looks less like **** ?

I am not trolling.

For me this game looks just horrible.

I feel the same way about soul reaver, cannot touch it.

I am not asking for it to look like skyrim, since skyrim looks bad in many places too.

For example DAO in many places looks good to this day, and when i started it, i never said this game looks bad.

Look at this mod for nwn2 http://www.nexusmods...nter2/mods/212/. It really feels good while playing official campaign of nwn 2.

So if i do not agree with you, i am a troll ? " Only sith deals in absolutes".

In the past i tried playing older games like civ or civ 2, but because of low textures i cannot stand them.

Tried morrowind but i had to install hd texture pack.

Isn't there a single texture pack, that i can install ?

I already found that thread when using "uncle" google but i was hoping for some uber secret that google didn't found '<img'>.

My first game i played was Civilisation in the beginning of the 90's. I remember nearly every detail about it, i even memorise all of civipedia from it, every unit, every technology.

Change yourself, and you change the world

Retro's a style. Appreciate it for what it is. Don't make every game a needless trip into the land of "HD", by which I mean grim and brown

Trust me, if you can handle the Morrowind strut, you can handle NWN's modding capabilities.

Have you saw what I posted earlier?

Have you read what the other gamers suggested?

Maybe you're not a troll, but you continues to compare a game released in early 2000 (2001/2002) with another one released almost eight years later (2009).

You talked about "absolutes", but you're the only person who still presume to define this game objectively horrible. For us isn't true, so try to accept it, or don't play it.

My apologies for this mine, but seems like you have ignored everything in this post, except - eventually - for a link to the HD textures that make the game like the last titles...that not exist. '<img'>

Isn't that a purpose of modding to improve aspect of game.

DAO have hd texture pack, fan made.

Oblivion had custom combat animation, hd texture packs.

Not to mention Fallout 3 or new vegas they hd packs also despite game is much younger then nwn.

If i want to find mods for dao, elders scroll games or new fallout game, i go to nexus sites.

But since nwn was a part of bioware modding scene, i decided that this is best place to find any advice about hd mods.

Maybe i overreacted in my first post, but this is what i feal when i look on this game, calling me a troll won't change my mind in any aspect.

I never liked how nwn looked like, the only reason i finished the official campaign because i was different person when the game came out and like the story back in the day.

Here i thought modders suppose to be nice and helping each others instead of atacking me if i have different opinion.

...And this is the reason why some answers are brutal. So, I'm sorry. '<img'>

All games that you have mentioned, don't have a simple - but complete - toolset that allows a player to create - or modding - what he wants (neither Morrowind or Oblivion). In NWN 2 they have implemented a better graphics, but the toolset It's much heavier, buggy, complicated and also limited (if you want to create something complex). I think this is a good reason that you can accept, with - unfortunately for us - all the others. '<img'>

I corrected it for you. It still has a few minor bugs, but for the most part those can be worked around. The toolset was used to port Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale, and is in the process of being used to port BG2, so I'd hardly call it limited. If anything, I'd call it more flexible.

The only limitation I ever found for the NWN2 toolset was, for me, its pretty steep learning curve.

@Severus...

Sorry for calling you a troll. Over the years we've had a lot of trolls come here with pretty much the same approach you used - bash the game (or community) right out of the starting gate. Thus, when you approach what remains of this Community in the manner you did, many of us take offense and start waving the pitchforks and torches.

In reality the modding community for NWN has become notably small over the past few years and those that remain are largely dedicated to their personal pet projects - be it the CCC, CEP, Project Q, Facelift haks, etc. The best place to look for graphical improvements is at neverwintervault.org. Start with a search for Zwerkules facelift haks. If you want something more robust, but harder to install as an override, try out Project Q.

OT (sorry): the toolset of NWN2 is great, but I prefer aurora for the reasons I have already wrote. A big area, more than "24x24", full of placeables, npc and script, it's often too heavy. '<img'>

Properly built, large NWN2 areas can be very complex, full of placeables, NPCs, many trees, and scripts, without performance issues.  You will find many examples of slow performance caused by builders who were not familiar with the design principles.  It's not limited as you think.

I also don't find the toolset buggy.

Personally the graphics of NWN2 wasn't what kept me from it (though personally I find the character models, especially the default standing animations, to have much to be desired). I'm not fond of the GUI, the controls always felt rather sticky and unresponsive to me. Plus building exteriors with a heightmap, though definitely looks fantastic, requires quite a bit more work than simple tilesets. Plus in some ways I do prefer the NWN modding. As an amateur in working with textures, models, and the like NWN1 is a great place to get your feet wet.

I've in the past worked with the various toolsets provided by Bethesda games as well. From Morrowind to Skyrim. Morrowind had the most stable and least buggy toolset. Oblivion's construction set crashed on me constantly, and the one from Skyrim barely worked at all at times. When I first tried the Electron toolset I encountered many of the same. I think I last played with it a few months ago? Seemed stable enough, though I didn't mess with it extensively.

I wasn't saying anything about the graphics.  I was merely responding to the suggestion that the toolset is limited or buggy in some way compared to NWN1.

The GUI is entirely open and modifiable.  Not just skinnable, but entirely editable, changeable, and replaceable, including new UI elements.  I made a quite popular overhaul of it, myself.

Textures and models are likewise easy to work with, with the free Gmax and Tazpn's import/export plugins, and the DDS it uses is the standard kind that can be opened by any DDS tool, in addition to TGA.  I've made many new models and textures myself.

Didn't say you were talking about the graphics. Just putting in my own feelings on the matter.

And yeah, the GUI is modifiable, but I'm referring to the default setup. It's not something I personally like. I find NWN1's to be a lot better. This is just personal feeling though. I'm sure some people feel the exact opposite to me.

NWN requires less to run. A little less learning curve as well. I get that NWN2 has more knick knacks. However I appreciate NWN1 because of the fact it lacks that bells and whistles. It's a perfect first step. Learning to walk before learning to run.

I don't like the default setups either, but that doesn't matter in a moddable game.  I think that's the general idea most people are espousing in this thread overall.

(I guess you use the default setup for NWN1?)

Very true. That's just one of the reasons I never get into NWN2 modding is all.

Graphics mean very little to me. Gameplay and content does. Both NWN1 and 2 have both.
