It would actually be fairly easy to accomplish, and I have a tutorial created regarding how to do it

AuroraFlex - some folks call it Animesh

It requires you to edit each individual .mdl file that you wish to give the movement to.  But you do NOT need to add that movement to every flag.  Each one you edit should likely be a slightly different weight at the bottom or top of the vertice columns that you choose to edit.  IE if you want the flag to stay straight along the top edge, but have the bottom move with the wind, you would set the top verts to 1 I think, can't quite remember which way the scaling works, but once you figure out one of them, it will be easy to adjust all of them fairly quickly.  It does require Gmax or 3dsmax to make these sorts of edits though.  Although you _might_ be able to accomplish this by using a text editor, I have never tried to accomplish this sort of edit by text editing though.

The only way I've managed to accomplish it through editing text was dumping the list of vert weights into Excel, so that it would give a row number to each vert.  That's really awkward, though.  When I discovered how easy it was to edit vert weights through "surface properties" of selected verts in an editable mesh, I facepalmed at all the time I'd wasted before.

Just in case those people who are capable of making a shield using the texture I showed on the previous page don't see the potential that I do, here is a 512 x 512 "circular" image with it overlaid on a piece of jade.

Also, if nobody has the time to actually make the nine stained glass windows I mentioned in my previous post, how about making a tutorial so that I can give it a go?

Hmmm... my face has unintentionally been introduced to my palms so many times, that they now consider themselves well acquainted!   I seldom, as in almost never, edit the .mdl in text ,mode.  Primarily due to the fact that by the time I find the issue I want to edit in the file, and figure out what needs to change... well, I could have solved it via 3ds typically using 1/10th the amount of time, and usually 1/100th the amount of effort.   Of course, that is assuming I have a working PC with a working copy of 3dsmax and all the various plugins that I utilize as tools are also installed and running correctly.

Currently, no such luck.  This pc is a borrowed laptop, that has no power to it, runs win7 with only 2gig of ram, and only built in graphics which really suck.  So, not even worth attempting to get my copy of Gmax to install on it, since it can't run NWN anyway.

About the only time I will edit files in text mode is when I am doing a fairly global search/replace of textures during a re-skin process.  For THAT, I normally accomplish that sort of thing by using a suite of batch type file editing tools... can't remember the name, and I don't have it installed here since I can't really use the edited files anymore than I can load 3dsmax.

.

Would someone like to make a shield with a design that I have come up with?

Skyrim2.gif

That is the Seal of Skyrim apparently. I got a black and white image of the shape and coloured it in. The above image is a quarter of the size (512x512) of the one I've made (1024x1024). Also the above image is on a white background whereas I have a version on a transparent background. Anyone who wants to use it for a shield just pm me, telling me what size you want it reduced to and I'll let ou have an address where you can download it from.

Let me know if this suits your needs and I can post it up for the monthly contribution.

@Tiberius_Morguhn Sorry for the delay, RL stuff today, meant no inet access until now. That is a really nice looking shield. By all means add it to this month's collection.

I feel a little embarrassed now. because I already had made my own shield with TR design, too. But It's less detailed than the TM version.

Bragonborn_Shield.jpg

I have called it "Dragonborn shield". I have made two versions with the textures that TR had sent to me:

There's no need to be embarrassed. Both shields have their individual merits. Look at it this way. Shemsu, your's is the supposed lost mythic version from a previous age whereas Tiberious's is the more modern version made for a ruler who wished to hark back to a "golden" age. The Shemsu variant is that shape because it is hand crafted from a solid piece of Nephrite - aka Hard Jade, a notoriously difficult mineral to carve. Tiberious's on the other hand has been cast from very high grade steel that has then been bonded to a surface layer of Silver that has then been hand polished to a high degree, hence the surface striations. Shemsu's is the original, while Tiberious's was made using the only known image found in a recently rediscovered scroll from a distant monastery.

I have a question. Just how hard would it be for someone to model this? Is no-one going to try?

Quiet weekend isn't it... Well maybe this little surprise will liven things up a bit. Introducing Elder Scrolls Themed Rune-stones -

ES%20Runes%204.jpg

36 placeable rune-stones using the commonest Elder Scrolls sigils/alphabet/whatever. That 36 consists of 25/26 letters, 9/10 numerals and 1 grufty (yay more UK slang), mankey (or blank if you prefer). The reason for the debate over the number of letters and numerals is because apparently both the letter "O" and the numeral for zero use the same Elder Scrolls symbol. The above picture is taken in the toolset.

ES%20Runes%200.gif

The above picture from in game gives you a better idea of the scale of these stones.

ES%20Runes%201.gif

Oh, did I mention that for each placeable there is a corresponding inventory item?

ES%20Runes%202.png

The placeables are actual 3d models made from the model that Rolo made for me, that I used for the Nordic Rune-stones from the August 2013 (Vikings, Celts & Norsemen) ccc.

ES%20Runes%203.gif

The above shows about as much surface detail as I can get in game.

Right, Models done - check, icons done - check, blueprints done - check, works in game - check. That just leaves the scripts to tie the models and placeables together. I think I know exactly how I will do that and it should result in just two scripts being necessary. But that is a job for tomorrow. And to think I didn't expect to be able to do anything this month... ''

Scripts done. Worked just as expected. Just 2 scripts needed to get these working together.

<initiating tongue-cheek manoeuvre>

Aren't runes wonderful. Besides their use in game they also allow you to bypass some of the more idiotic foibles of this sites nanny software. Yes, now you can finally say -

peak.png

without the nanny software "throwing a wobbly" (more UK slang). Just click on the image to find out the meaning of the runes (hint - male version).

Chitin_Armor.jpg

The Chitin armor from Morrowind; made with files and textures from the original game and some Mods. Morrowind uses low poly models and low resolution textures; Just like NWN so its files works well in NWN. Even with That,  this conversion have required quite time and work.

Chitin_Armor_Females.jpg

Chitin_Armor_Males.jpg

This armor is a full new set. It's  is available for all races and sexes, normal phenotype only....

Chitin_Helmet.jpg

Also this armor would be very useful for a Dark Sun module...
