Human body rebuild & retexture

Fed up with blocky biceps and breasts so sharp they could have someone's eye out if you turn around too quickly? Well, this might just be for you!


 


 


So, a couple of weeks back I was playing around with building clothing parts and thought I'd have a go at putting together a slightly less blocky body to hang the wretched things on. Feeling like a challenge, and deciding that in this case the far more sensible option of piecing together things from the Vault was not for me, I started off remodelling and texturing the whole thing from scratch. Many hours in Blender and Photoshop later, this is the result.


 


 


I started off with the female:

And am currently working on the male – done the torso, neck and arms so far.

This is still a work in progress (as evidenced, for example, by the fact that half the male body's not done yet) but I'm posting this now to hopefully get some feedback to help me fine-tune things before I finish it and post to the Vault.


 


So any comments or suggestions regarding either the models or the textures would be much appreciated...

There have already been a couple projects dealing with this, and since you're asking for suggestions, I would suggest you check those out. Particularly, the ACP male torso, the one with cropped shoulders, and there was also this guy... I can't remember the name of the hak, but he did a rework of the female and male bodies. Maybe someone can give you the exact links or name, cause I can't remember. Point is, you could draw some ideas from them. I think a synergy of both your work and the previous endeavors  could lead to an amazing definitive remodeling.

I really like what you have done with the textures, never mind the models. Just one thought - any possibility of having a less pumped up male body as well? Doesn't have to be weedy just less like they've spent the last 5 years in the gym necking protein shakes.

I like the bodies you have done, they look enormoisly well made. If i had to give feedback, i would also second the suggestion for a more regular male body, or a toned down alternative texture.  also to me it looks like the nipples are too far outside. As for the female, very,awesome blending between the different body parts. I'm not a fan of the modern bra though.

Of particular interest here are hands, feet and neck - things that would stick out from most clothing arrangements; incorporating this skin texture/shape into existing clothing patters, both vanilla and custom, might be a bit more laborious though.

On 'constructive feedback' note - in the male model the arm/bicep thickness vs torso ration could be reduced a little, or simply a less gym-infused version might be made.


 


Otherwise, it's looking good. I'd love to lend you  hand on the practical level, but my modelling skills are only taking their first baby steps atm.

Pragmatic choice for hands and feet, but could the gender types be more pronounced?


aka Dainty or Rugged  


 


Males and female types could use as much variation as possible.


Thin, normal, heavy and heroic ?

How many poly's do each and all of the parts collectively contain?


 


Neck types?


Belt types?


 


Will the polys ever overlap current clothes and armor models ?


Flex modifiers?


Anatomy?  .... er, does anyone happen to remember "Den" from Heavy Metal ?

It's one of the immutable laws of fantasy RPGs. The women are compelled to scamper about in tinfoil lingerie, while the men dress in a rather more pedestrian fashion. Why is this the case? Who knows. It's one of those unanswerable questions -- like why do women in bikinis stand around wearing fixed grins during the F1 Grand Prix or a heavy-weight title fight? And how much cash are you prepared to sell your self-respect for? As someone who was once an adolescent boy, I blame adolescent boys. To toss my 2 dinars into the arena--the human body is a beautiful thing.  Why not have lovely woman and handsome men in a game of fantasy?  I like a bit more of a range in female armor/clothing--both common and exotic--but there are plenty of clothing mods out their that it's not too much trouble to put together something to suit ones taste.  As the the scantily clad women F1 Grand Prix, etc.?  To be polite about this, it's 2015.  Appearing in attire designed to enhance sexuality does not require a loss of self-respect.  People like to see beautiful people--both men and women; their is nothing at all amiss with that.  If there is fault to be had as a society, it is that anyone should be condemned for leading their lives as they wish.


 


Oh, and I agree with six.  The guy should be dressed (or not) equal to the woman.

I assume you mean the male torso by RagnarokMk4 (the one with the very large deltoids)? If so, yeah, I did take a look at that before I started work on my own. It's an excellent model, though his has a fair bit more muscle definition than mine does. I wasn't aware of the other one you mentioned – guess I didn't search hard enough the first time round. I had another look and found Xaltar's hak – I take it this is the one you meant? Will have to have a look at the models when I get back.

Yeah, I see what the three of you mean – the biceps have now been deflated somewhat. Poor guy, five years of protein shakes down the drain after a couple of minutes with an air pump needle...


 


Will also add a less toned variant of the torso texture to my to-do list.

Ha! Yeah, I know there's a lot still to do. I want to get the human model done as well as I can before scaling things for the other races and large phenotypes. Since I'd rather only have to do that once. I want to finish the humans, then convert it to the other races, then do large phenotype versions. I can think about other stuff when that's all done.
