... Currently I am working with some music files. Now as I like to try to make my stuff CEP compatible I looked in the CEP Top (2.4 until I can download) hak for ambientmusic.2da and it wasn't there. Does this mean that there are no ambient music files in the CEP? ...

That's my understanding. We already have the Community Music Pack for that purpose.

...  I added in a few tiles (to cep2_ext_tiles.hak), but not complete tilesets...

I haven't found a reference to that in the excellent documentation for 2.6. Do you have details?

Hitherto, I understood that cep2_ext_tiles overwrites the Bioware tilesets, whereas cep2_add_tiles* creates new CEP tilesets. Clearly, you have to use one or the other (not both), but the additional tiles are essentially the same. Is that no longer true?

@Proleric Thanks for the reply. The only (major) problem with the CMP that I can see is that it hasn't been updated in literally years. That was another reason why I asked about music in the CEP. Still I suppose if it were to be included, it would increase the size of the CEP considerably.

@ Lazarus Magni I am sorry but I must correct you on one little point. When the CEP first came out, it was intended for everybody (i.e. sp, mp and pw) not just pw's. The understandable fact that it has been enthusiastically embraced by pw's does not alter this.

I fail to see the point of Lazarus' apparent hostility toward Project Q and it's certainly not warranted in a thread that should be reserved for complimenting TAD on the fine job he has done getting CEP 2.6 out the door to the Community. That being said, I do feel this little blurb needs to be addressed, simply for the fact that it is GROSSLY misinformed.

I am a PW owner who has inherited a module that has used CEP for the last 8-10(?) years (I am not sure how long it has been around but it has been a while.) And as such a PW owner, I am overjoyed to see an expansion on the availible content for worlds that use CEP, and as such I would encourage Project Q to get on board and contribute to the "Community Expansion Pack" (which in fact is one of the few remaining bioware thread catorgies) and not see it as a threat.

Somehow, ultimately Project Q and CEP, need to find a way to work together. But in the mean time, it is wonderful to see CEP is living, and evolving on.

When TAD first proposed a CEP 2.60 update, I proposed a merger between the two projects. However, after further discussion, TAD and I both agreed that the projects had drifted too far apart to make such a merger feasible AT THAT TIME. Instead we opted for allowing CEP 2.60 to include ANY elements of Project Q that TAD chose to - provided that the original authors of said content did not openly oppose its inclusion. This seemed like a fair compromise that would serve the best interests of the community at large.

Its unfortunate, Lazarus, that based upon a misconception of the current state of affairs, you chose to drudge up old skeletons. Firstly, lets set a few things straight:

  1. I am Project Q - at least in the sense that I largely control its creative direction.

  2.
  3. I hardly see CEP as a "threat". Frankly, I could care less if Project Q is used over CEP or vice versa. I think you might be confusing me with LR - the guy that started Project Q.

  4.
  5. CEP is a vital resource for the Community and I highly respect the work TAD - and others - have done to revive it.

  6.
  7. I encourage people to download CEP 2.60. As CEP is the highest profile CC project for NWN - and most likely the first thing new players will hear about - this ensures that the Community continues to grow.

  8.
  9. Lastly, I am "on board" with TAD and have been so for some time. In fact, I'd like to think TAD and I have a good working relationship.

Sorry, TAD - and other Community members - for temporarily hijacking this thread, but to those that know me well, you know I wasn't going to let that comment slide  '<img'>

Lazarus, if you'd like to continue this conversation via PM, I'd be more than glad to. It saddens me that a respected member of the Community seems to harbor such disdain for Project Q. Maybe we can iron these differences out, or, at the very least, agree to disagree and move on.

not that it is any of my business but i think that Lazarus is just saying that he likes to use cep over Pq and thats it. I mean, it´s up to everyone himself what to use and what not and you cant make anything perfect for everyones taste so it´s clear to assume that there always is a pro-contra for a builder.

And congrats for the CEP 2.60 leaving the harbor '<img'>

I beleive this is a total misunderstanding I hold no ill will toward Lazarus or anyone in this community or any project.

I feel bad that it was interperted that way and will be a little more selective in my wording as I should probably stop using my phone to reply to post.

Believe me when I say I have the utmost respect for TAD as well, and out of all the community personnel he is probably one of the only ones that I feel can accomplish the task of continuing of CEP making making even greater than it has been in the past.

I would also encourage the community to assist and aid TAD whenever possible especially those who use CEP. I will continue to assit when I can with content or fixes for content which is used in CEP and as always TAD is welcome to use anything I do.

I have another item TAD may want and that is the fire grue, as CEP still contains the model with the skin that crashes NWN explorer when you try to view it grab it from Q. One less fix you'll have to do. Good Luck TAD!!!

I do not harbor distain for project Q, and in fact respect it as another continued representation of the amazing player driven content that can be made with NWN and shared and experienced collectively, and uniquely in an online (PW) format.

It just seemed like a condescending post to me, and yes I may have over-reacted. I am prone to do that sometimes. My apologies to Cervantes35, and everyone else for that.

Thank you, Pstemarie, for clearing up the misconceptions I had about Project Q, and it's relationship to CEP.

Yes do post good detailed tileset bugs as I currently working on tilesets and I would like to help TAD with some of bugs as they pop up.

Pstemarie could we give TAD a dropbox folder  and permissions to access it so I have a place to put some fixes I do for CEP that he could grab all at once instead of e-mailing one by one.

My sincerest apologies to AD, and the entire CEP team. I did not mean to detract from this thread with my own personal drama.
