Custom Content Challenge: August 2014: African Adventures / Tileset Expansions

Alright, I've collected some sounds for use in soundsets for a few animals: hyenas, elephants, crocodiles, gorillas, hippos, and rhinos.

Since the old Vault is down and the tutorials with it, I've gone with this tutorial: http://ccg.animecafe...art_3_VoiceSets

I have a question about .tlk entries in soundsets, however. Would it be feasible to use the existing CEP tlk entries for the STRREFs, even though the CEP uses those for appearance names? Would that cause a problem? It seems like it's just a text label, but I've never created a soundset before, so I want to make sure.

Hunga%20Munga.jpg

Hunga Munga is just one of the names for this throwing weapon. It's designed to hurt the enemy no matter what edge of the weapon hits on them. I have added this as throwing-axes.

Mangbetu.jpg

The Mangbetu "knife" was originally used as a weapon of war and an agricultural implement. They later developed into luxury items to provide symbols of status.

Mangbetuscale01.jpg

I have added it as sickle models; because both weapons have similar size, as well as a similar curved blade; Also both of them were farming tools originally....

DAMN!

(Add a few more damns until five or six lines are obscured by them).

Though Irish on my mother's side, I'm African (Nigerian) on my father's side - in so much as anyone ever accused me of being human at all - and I've got loads of African stuff I've done for NWN over the years. Kraal huts and totems, assorted creatures, etc... all of it in need of a little love and attention. And I had it all neatly stacked awaiting the month the African theme came up on the CCC. And what happens?

I'm contracted to make a load of huge, life-size models of prehistoric mammals which is going to devour all my time at present. I'm just back here briefly to pick up some supplies we forgot to haul over to the studio and I've got a bald, somewhat featureless but already quite intimidating, sixteen foot Andrewsarchus looming at me...

Don't get me wrong, this work is fascinating and with the moulds I can MAKE A SECOND ANDREWSARCHUS FOR MYSELF - though where I'm going to put it amidst all the other beasts in the collection I have NO idea... but I didn't want to miss the African theme. Wish it had been just Tilesets now and Africa next month. I'm never going to finish the Andrewsarchus and the Glyptodont before the end of this month... and then there are other beasts to do, but there's more time available for them...

Rrrrrgh! I wish I hadn't voted for it now. Damn.

Just felt compelled to comment morosely.

There's always room for an addendum later on to add extra content to a theme, PHoD. '<img'>  I'd like to see what you come up with for African themed stuff.

I'd also like to see pictures of your finished "real life" model work on those critters. '<img'>

@Carcerian Now I may have misunderstood, but I thought this month's theme was for Sub Saharan Africa (i.e. to the south of the sahara desert).

You may have, yes.... '<img'>

Nyambe - African Adventures: Content could include African arms and armor (including clothing), African-styled placeables, holy symbols

for the Orishas, African-style heads, fantastical creatures from African mythology (such as the demonic ngojama, the vampiric tyerkow, or the reptilian

unthlatu), mundane African animals (elephants, hippos, rhinos, giraffes, wildebeests, baboons, etc.), and classic tropical D&D monsters that have yet to

be made (jackalweres, carnivorous plants, giant frogs and toads, tasloi, bonesnappers, kech, dakons, loxo, froghemoths, hybsil, werecrocodiles, and so

on).

To be exact "Nyambe - African Adventures" Is a D20 campaign based on a fictional continent, of course inspired by Africa. However I'm not saying that we should be restricted to what is allowed in that campaign....

African_Neckrings.jpg

African neck-rings, available for all races, sexes and phenotypes. A basic addition, but useful, I think, in order to create an African background....
