The old vault seems to have officially died....
« Reply #30 on: June 26, 2014, 11:26:09 pm »

               Someone posted this link on IGN:

http://web.archive.o...content=scripts

Hopefully we can help Rolo build the new vault, but meanwhile that link might help those with urgent requirements.

Is there anything we can do to bring the old  vault back?

Did you restart your browser?

You misunderstand - the Vault is working fine for me after I added the DNS info to my hosts file. I can navigate vault listings, download files, search, and do everything else I've always been able to do.

It still appears to be fully functional for me as well.  I altered my hosts file ages ago when it poof'd last time.  Guess I'll be archiving more things.

I added the DNS to my hosts file and seem to have the same level of access I had before this latest "shutdown."

Err... you what? How do we do this?

If you're on windows 7 or later, you'll need to open notepad as an administrator (UAC hassles), and then open the hosts file.  It's located somewhere in c:\windows\system32\drivers\ect and open the hosts file (forget if it's hosts or the hosts.ics file... I think it's the extentionless hosts file, someone else will have to correct me on that if I a wrong).  Open that, and add the IP info Fester Pot supplied earlier in this thread.

I had to turn of UAC and temporarily turn off my antivirus to allow me to modify windows files.

Oh oops. I could've sworn there was a "not" or a "can't" somewhere in your post. My mistake. *blush*

<running around...>

I do have a full back up of files current to *last July*.

In fact I have three copies on three different hard drives (miniVault (official), roloVault (my personal copy) and vixenVault (my primary backup)), just in case (Thanks to the generous people who've donated toward the neverwintervault.org.).

In addition Henesua hosts Repository Zero which will eventually be the archive repository of the still wip vault storage system. RepoZ also has a complete backup as of last July.

What that means for now, is if you need something that hasn't been migrated to the new Vault yet, put in a request on one of the two new forums:

http://neverwinterva...n1-files-wanted

http://neverwinterva...n2-files-wanted

I'll use the requests on those forums to dig through the archives and prioritize the migration on my end.

Re uploading someone else's project... Please! We can always adjust things if there's an error, but many hands make a huge task much less daunting.

At the same time, be aware that if the author has publically (or even privately, so long as the admin at the Vault is aware of it) removed or restricted access to his content, his IP, then the Vault *will* honor those wishes.

As KC would say "Here's a towel, don't panic :-)"

<...like a little chicken>

I suspect we can discuss this more later, but IS the Vault financially secure? I'm somewhat aware of what site hosting can cost, especially when hosting the amount of data that the Vault contains, so this seems like any important thing for us all to keep in mind.

Thanks to quite a few generous individuals, with an enormous boost from the anonymous sponsor I've nicknamed "DeepPockets", we are paid through this year with some promises for the future.

Anyone who wish may contribute as well, of course :-) I *like* being financially secured at least 12 months ahead :-P

The donate button is visible on the front page if you are not signed in (I have issues with ads and throwing that thing in our member's face once they're logged in ;-/

If you make a theme, Rolo will make it available. He was looking for themes when the site first launched.

<changing his...>

The Vault has the capability of an unlimited number of skins.

We have two contributed so far (but no one likes mine (Zen) :-P )

(edit: two and a half, Twisted Euphoria's is available but incomplete :-P )

Want a better one, non-PC? Build it and put it up :-)

I've been practically *begging* Klatchain Coffee and PHoD to do some (*very* different) skins.

Edit: Btw, skins are worth 100 Vk (5 for media, 95 Rolo Bonus ;-)
