Making PLC Monsters
« on: June 10, 2014, 02:10:42 am »

Recently playing around with d20 Modern Content I have tried making placeable.2da objects into appearance.2da entries (and scaling tails...)

Most seem to work if the facing is correct (and some seem to actually support plc animations, often to amusing results, like arcane space...)

As long as the plc's orientation point faces to the rear, many standard PLC mdls can be used as creatures with no other modifications.

A few examples of PLCs that "Behave" themselves as Monsters: http://neverwinterva...ke-plc-monsters

(2da snippet demonstrates how to use various content from d20, Arcane Space, CCC, CEP, SWC, and Project Q PLCs as appeance.2da creatures)

"Beholderkin: Hagioscope"

"Plant: Vampiric Roses"

"Plant: Yellow Musk Creeper"

"Ship: Airship, Blue"

"Ship: Airship, Red"

"Ship: Ghost"

"Ship: Spelljammer, Squid"

"Ship: Spelljammer, Clipper"

"Ship: Spelljammer, Arrowing"

"Ship: Spelljammer, Shell"

"Plant: Tree, Mirkwood"

"Poltergeist: Dishes"

"Poltergeist: Pots"

"[VFX] Magic Mouth"

"[Modern] Humvee"

"Scrying Field"

"War: Crossbow, Large"

"War: Bow Ballista"

"War: Cannon 2"

"War: Cannon, Large"

"Plant: Tree, Willow 1"

"Plant: Tree, Willow 2"

"Plant: Tree, Willow 3"

"Plant: Tree, Dead Willow"

"Plant: Tree, Dead Pine"

"Plant: Tree, Dead Oak"

"Plant: Tree, Pine 1"

"Plant: Tree, Pine2"

"[Future] Ship: Wraith Fighter"

Pics pending...

Basic Instructions: To make your own PLC Monsters, simply copy an archery or combat dummy 2da entry to use any plc mdl you wish to test as a creature, and tweak its portrait, env-mapping and movement rate to fit your needs...

that's awesome carcerian. i am of the opinion that i need to take another look at the origin for things like chairs, candelabras and tables should I ever want to do an enchanted castle ala Beauty and the Beast.

Interestingly, The "Poltergeist" plcs float like a cloud of objects, then spin when they attack!

(apparently they use the on/activated animation to attack vs the off/deactivated to move about?)

Defiantly stuff to consider when making or converting plc vehicles, ships, cannons, turrets, and the like...

(and if you NEED to have a plc work in your projects, then a simple base node orientation change should make it usable at least for an NPC.)

(Adds another future Steampunk/Technomantic/Artifact-CCC-Update item to the list of personal to-do's...)

Nice. Also, when I saw the lineup of the dragonfly things, all I heard in my head was a comical plane sound.  ''
