ANOTHER disgusting Quihex relic...

The Quihex Orb is a filthy great misnomer because clearly, as anybody with even rudimentary and vestigial eyesight can immediately appreciate, there are, in fact, three Orbs.

But it's the whopping one in the middle that does all the murky, Spleen-shaped Evilist stuff - the smaller ones are just relays.

PHoDQuihexOrb.jpg

Naturally the Quihex Orb (that is actually three Orbs and Fifi won't stop telling me so) displays the same warped Spleen appearance as the other sinister anachronisms posted earlier. EVENTUALLY, at a point unimaginably distant in time, I shall get round to finishing the entire Quihex collection and their derelict citadel Tileset. He said optimistically. But at least I've now got the more significant of their relics done.

More bizarre PHoD rubbish still to come this month...

This is mostly just an experiment, but it has uses as it stands.

Basically it's just the Illithid Globe thing BioWare did for HotU - you know, the silvery blob that rotates when it's live and set to "activated". I've been looking at that rotating activity and thinking of possibilities for some time.

What you have here is more or less the same Placeable only it's MUCH bigger. And it has a mottled, tarnished metal texture. AND, to actually get to the point, it has four Satellite Spheres. These are linked to the main central Sphere and so, when it rotates (yes, you guessed) the four Satellite Spheres orbit around it in a pleasingly varied way.

PHoDRMBalls.jpg

Naturally, you can't see the orbiting activity of the four smaller spheres in a screenshot, but I'm sure you can imagine. Mostly you can see herself, as usual, and some Ginormous Rats. Just ignore the Gimongous Rats; I've been experimenting on them some more.

I'm currently not at all sure about the lurid yellowy emitters "supporting" the central globe. Might well strip them out and leave it levitating of its own volition. You can add VFX Placeables yourselves then, if you wish. Anyway, it looks rather nice with the satellite orbs orbiting the central one and I have ridiculously ambitious plans for a far, far larger and more complex version - think Aughra's Observatory in Dark Crystal - but I'm certainly not going to get that done this month.

It's just irritating that you can't add any animation to a Placeable without it having to be set to "Useable". I SO wish there was a way to have static Placeables with moving parts.

EDIT:- The PHoD Rotating Nonsense Thing must be both "Useable" and set to "Activated" in the Placeable's Properties tab in order for it to rotate. Otherwise it'll just sit there like a Spleen. I'm sure you'd already figured that out, but I thought I'd say, just to be sure.

I can see uses for a version of that (once re-skinned) without the orbiting spheres (planetary display anyone).

That old Solar System thingy is a useful little whassname - I've been using it for years.

But it only rotates in a single plane. Very tame.

With the idiot Metal Ball thing I did, the orbital plane shifts through something like 150 degrees whilst it cycles which gives it a much wilder appearance. Thus, for the ridiculously overcomplex thing I'm planning, with multiple Balls at differing angles of inclination with multiple satellites each in multiple arcs of orbit which intersect (and will probably crash into each other a lot to start with), the combined anim loops should give a really, really interesting web of movement.

OR it'll just suck totally. One or the other.

Naturally, since almost everything PHoD does is rabidly over the top, he just can't do some nice little artefacts without making some that are larger than buildings...

Possibly they ought to be classified as buildings, but since nobody actually knows what they are and as they are venerated in worship by the debased, soil-eating proles of the region where they are found, these mysterious, ancient structures more or less come under the aegis of "Artefacts and Relics", give or take...

A complete enigma to archaeologists from the Port Seadeep Institute (whose researchers have a curious tendency to vanish without trace in their vicinity) these huge structures are commonly known as The Teeth of the Stars despite looking nothing whatever like teeth nor having any appreciably stellar qualities... Lucirath just calls them "Spleen Pyramids".

PHoDPyramoids.jpg

These Placeables come in two sizes, which isn't very easy to judge with them off over the other side of a lake, but standing right beside them would result in a fascinating screenshot of a bit of base wall.

The Large one is the smaller of the two, as it enjoys being paradoxical, and is approximately 2x2 Tiles in ground area. The Humongous one is about 4x4 Tiles in ground area. There is NNNOOOOOO Small version.

Unavoidable stuff has happened and the Shabby Hyena Item has frantically packaged up all the weird artefacts and shoved them in a big bag and fired them by trebuchet in TAD's general direction. Probably won't be back home at my computer before the month ends.

Just one last PHoD addition to this CCC, a lumpy Arcane Fount thing...

PHoDArcaneFount.jpg

I've just noticed I've utterly messed the screenshot up by placing the murky stone Arcane Fount in a grotty corner of a Tileset of murky stone and so it all just becomes a Murkomized mess, so you can't really see it very well. Not that it's brain-rupturingly exciting or anything. Lots of hooked stone spikes sticking out of a lumpy dais, onto which you can put whatever suitable VFX Placeables you desire (the one in the screenshot is just by way of demonstration).

(Gripping his trusty brick, PHoD charges off to deal with stuff...)

Suggestion. As these appear to be artefacts and you designed and made them yourself why not send them to the Amethyst Dragon for inclusion in this months ccc?

TR

As per Tarot Redhand's suggestion, I will be submitting my moongates to this challenge, since he seems to believe they fit well enough. I will do this IF TAD also believes they fit well enough, otherwise I will be releasing them as per normal, as my original plans were to do.
