Once a PW proposed a memorial statue of an evil player leader who was dying of cancer, as a tribute to his rp, but he absolutely hated the idea, and demanded his character was passed on to a fellow rper instead after his demise, as his last wish. (and it was, to the biggest rebel he knew)
For memorials i suggest people like JR Tolkein (has a grave stone in Ultima 7's skara brae), DnD's First DM, Dave Arneson (who deserves a statue like Gygax's), H.R. Geiger, Phillip Seoumour Hoffman, or whoever has that passed you admired most , that thank them for their contributions, reflect on their best moments, or have funny old west rhymes (my personal request when i kick it myself) that read like burma-shave signs:
Here lies a troll...
Without a name...
Disrupting others...
Was his game!
(Early fallout games had some great graves too...)
