Yet another city reskin
« on: May 19, 2014, 01:49:52 am »

I had the random urge to make something for NWN this weekend. Still a bunch more textures to create, but is anyone interested in seeing more of this style?

I like the TNO city reskin you did, but this looks good too. Lets see it!

That is one that I reckon would look really neat with the alleys in it

I like that it's not super-different from the original city textures, but different enough to freshen up the tileset.

<trying to look...>

Oh, I don't know...

Not shabby enough...

I'm sure it hasn't been hit properly with enough bricks...

Certainly not bland enough...

Barely see any pixelation...

Can't be *too* expensive...

Wait. Is that a *flaw*...?! Over there! Look!

*grabs*

*sprints away gleefully*

*opens his loot-sack when safe at HQ*

*stares in dismay at the lonely little screenshot that's the only thing he grabbed*

*starts plotting*

this, if you wouldnt replaced the cobble with dirt it could be treated not as a reskin but a high quality replacement, since of that dirt it feels like a village/poor city instead which is not bad, but different and i wouldnt use it for my rich city for example.

good work anyway

That's a good point. I couldn't find a cobble texture that I liked for there, but maybe it's worth another go. We've got other tilesets that can do the dirt floored city already.

Let's have a vote! Ay or nay, to cobble floor! '<img'>

It looks good; no obvious tiling patterns in the textures and most of it works well together. The one element I might be tempted to alter is the metal gate at the lower right. It has a vaguely rusty veneer but it looks a little too clean and tidy. Some vertical streakiness on the flat metal surfaces might help.

<channeling his inner...>

How about something a little different?

Like old roman roads? Bigger slabs of stone with a high crown...

Otherwise... I'd say nay, actually. Give me dirt and let me populate it with puddles and garbage :-P

i like cobble as an alternative to your other work, Six. I like your dirt in your lat city reskin, but it would be worth while to see a nice cobble with lots of wear. One reason i think this way is that the material in the wok is stone anyway. So if this is a straight up texture replacement, using cobble works better.

I vote cobble.
