OK I want to see the CEP return they were a quick good way to make and elaborate a server.

• First off CEP1 someone needs to make a straight complete download of the CEP1 to latest version 


• Secondly CEP 2 needs an adult extension that has the EErhum Nude succubus in it and spare it form having the overly ADULT features in the main CEP2 we allso need a fix badly coded items and errors.

Some other projects the New CEP can work on

• Online server list fix; we have a registry of servers lets use it lets try and get a active registry fix an exe a player can run that will be activate and change update multiplayer functions on the game.


• complete the content add in for CEP2 (or just write it off as complete after the fix and adult content separation last I recall there was a nudeie in it) and make it compatible with CEP1


• make a CEP2 and CEP 1 2 starter moduels


• start work on an official CEP3

before we go any further into the return of the CEP we need to preserve what made this game wonderful so we will need open uber /legit PVP and open roleplay servers with no item restrictions outside the normal lets clarify the classifications and see if we can get this game running on all fours again.

If you plan on adding new stuff to the CEP, you should talk to The Amethyst Dragon.

 

This game is running and some scripters, coders and content creators are already way ahead of you. I suggest you message them if you want to improve the CEP.

It would mainly entail downloading each 1.x version, extracting each haks contents into their own folders, then downloading the following versions and extracting to the same folders so that newer versions of models and such overwrite newer versions.  When done, put the contents back into haks (with the same names to stay compatible with servers/modules using them), and getting the updated package uploaded to the new Vault (or a link to them sent to me so that I can get them to the CEP entry on the new Vault.


I don't personally use earlier versions of CEP, so I lack the motivation to put work into it.

I'm not going to remove content from the CEP (that would mess with previous work done by builders), but I can add a "[Nudity]" tag to the end of appearances that contain bare breasts to warn people that are offended by seeing boobs in the toolset.  It's up to individual builders anyway if they use something.


I'd need a list of such appearances though (line numbers would be best, exact wording of names in CEP 2.4 would work, too).

Because lots of things were changed between CEP 1 and CEP 2, and the fact that they do not even share file names, they can't be made compatible.  There's no problems in having both downloaded in your hak folder at the same time, they just won't work together in the same module.

There are starter modules for 2.3 and 2.4, I think.  No clue about 1.x.  I do plan on having one or two starter modules for version 2.60 with the haks pre-associated, but they won't be crammed full of blueprints and scripts or anything.

That would be up to someone else.  I wouldn't use it myself, so I lack motivation to put any effort or content into a non-backwards-compatible version 3.

This has nothing to do with the CEP.


If you want a completely open local-vault server with no restrictions and you can't find one that exists, feel free to make your own.  That's the great thing about this game...you can make a module/server to suit your own tastes if you don't find what you want elsewhere.

If you want a completely open local-vault server with no restrictions and you can't find one that exists, feel free to make your own.  That's the great thing about this game...you can make a module/server to suit your own tastes if you don't find what you want elsewhere.

Previous post apparently aside form a miss-trigger on the filter thou I doubt anyone would care to notice; I actually used the actual; name of the module and its actual description but never the less I am going to now use it as a example of WHY we need to keep these things in mind when making the CEP, so whoever reported that as the curse consider yourself a big baby about this and thus proving my point.

• I am far too busy preparing for the last April event for my busyness working on prints and merchandise for my booth at a charity event to dig through my hacks folder and make sure that I have the CEP all nice neat and everything with it for the CEP1 at this time. I will be happy to do so but in honesty its best if someone else were to do it, preferably someone who knows more about the CEP than myself.


• If you don't want to make an extension and remove the nude succubus form the CEP2 make a GA version of the CEP2 and NEXT CEP make sure to have a Adult extension; If I can't show bare female breast in a comic and call it GA you most assuredly can't have that succubus in the CEP2 and call it general audience.


• The online server list fix is instructions and the places they have the person going are excessively dangerous to be messing with stuff; it is too easy for someone to cause irreversible damage to their operating system. It would be better if there were an executable file they could download and run that would make all the necessary fixes for them. I speak of course for the people who are not very computer literate and are afraid of causing damage to their system.


• Actually it has been done before, a 2da file has been made that actually has made the CEp1 and CEP2 comparable its not ideal true but it worked and they were able to use All the peaceable armor sets and additions, my suggestion for a next cep is to take all the GA items made and put them together in a working file its a wonderful collection of content however the bugs in the CEP2 are a presented issue still they have not yet had their coding fixed. writing and maintaining a 2da for a server is hard enough having to add fixes for hacks just takes up ever sent a free time I don't have. I am not a coding genus I barley understand the C scripting used in NWN to do what I need to for a campaign module. but I know people that are and have done wonderful things I just wish some of them posted their stuff in the Vault.


• The only CEP2 starter module I got in trouble for mentioning is poorly made badly named (according to forum admins) and lacks the proper scripting to file the item names properly. it is no starter more of a clean up my mess because I'm lazy module. someone can do better liek the CEP1 it DOES NOT HAVE TO BE ELABORATE one area will do nicely.


• Who said anything about making it non backwards compatible the 3rd instillation could be 1 and 2 without adult content and an added extension for the players wanting to make adult things. so you have to rename a few things, last I checked that didn't take very long, it also gives one an opportunity to add other truly epic hacks into the mix that were missed.


• The lat part may have nothing to do with CEP content but it has everything to do with its influence. the community demand has run the game in the past, there were obvious problems with some things done and there were the few that were not so obvious that had to deal with negative backlash for allowing such freedoms.

And now you are calling people lazy. How is that going to solve anything?

So you want to help the community? Good! Start by showing some respect to people here who already DID what you claim to want to do.

And whatever nudity there may be in the CEP, the people who made it are probably long gone and you shouldn't attack people who are updating the CEP for something they never added to the CEP themselves.

And if that content in the CEP should really become such a problem, it will only kill the CEP, not the game.

 

If you don't like the server list some hard working community members made, make a better one. You're not a programmer? Then don't complain about something other people did in their own free time if you can't even understand what it is they did! Since CEP 2.4 probably does now qualify as a Mature add-on, due to the nude creature appearances and the Sinfar body parts and clothes, a content warning label on the CEP download pages might not be a terrible idea, as there are still under age 17+ members in the community...

 

A "kid" patch to "cover up" the nudity in CEP could be possible, it would just need to replace nude monsters with non-nudes, and replace nude body parts/racy clothing with standard NWN ones. CEP could have Mature or Teen options, depending on the haks the developer chose to use.

 

(I recall certian mods made by concerned parents making less exposed female portraits to override the standard nwn ones, as an example).

Lacking time, knowledge, motivation or even general intelligence is no reason for folks to acquiesce to you demands. As for CEP 2X versions having "nudity", its optional to use those few appearances and in no way mandatory or forced. If you don't like it, simply don't use it.

If you follow the instructions, carefully and by "carefully" I mean, step by step, you'll not damage anything irreparably. Admittedly, some folks are simply -gunshy- when it comes to changing "things" on their computers, but that doesn't make doing so dangerous or in anyway damaging.

While true on the player side, the use of CEP can still be a concern if builder teams wish to include underaged members.

 

(A Teen friendly option might make future use of CEP less complicated in that regard.)

 

Potential Scenario:

 

Minor is gifted NWN by parent who chose a game less severe than some of the more modern and explicit games...

 

Minor Loads game, sees toolset, learns is a fun toy...

 

Minor Downloads community expansion pack, because many modules and servers use...

 

Minor browses CEP content, and is exposed to nudity without warning, and parents become understandably upset after discovering what all the giggling is about.

 

(Currently CEP is an as-is abandoned project, but if future editions are (hopefully) released, it might be a good topic to address in the future.)

The Question there is should the existing nude 3D models for monsters like succubus, centaurs, marillith, and the Sinfar body parts and armor be considered "Teen" or  "Mature" by modern rating systems?

 

Assumedly, if vanilla NWN is TEEN, then 3rd party mods containing actual nudity, such as CEP, would be considered MATURE by most forum standards, and the intimate emotes and more sexually oriented material found in the various social server haksets are ADULTS ONLY ratings.

I work in the U.S. education system, primarily with children ages 12-14, and the sex education program they receive in 6th grade contains much more nudity than the CEP. Nor is the curriculum of that program sent home for parental review prior to it being used. Frankly, if parents are waiting until their children see it first in a video game to have "the talk," I hope they're ready to be grandparents at a very young age.

He has a point in that it is a -huge- problem, considering to use older modules, you need like 3 different versions of the CEP installed. It is as user friendly as a spike through the foot. However we complained about this when CEP 1.0 upgraded to CEP 2.0
