This month's challenge is "Catacombs, Crypts, and Tombs":

Who doesn’t remember their first crypt crawl PnP adventure? The creepiness, the cobwebs, the stale air, and the undead lurking in the dusty shadows of a lost forgotten mountain tomb. Or was it the secret catacombs under a great city? The passages went on for miles, and success simply meant escaping with your lives. The bone piles, the macabre statuary, the grave markers in the floor and walls, and the slowly dying torches that had you wondering if you’d ever see daylight again. That old crypt tileset is looking very dated, even the undead see it and simply sigh in longing for something better to haunt. Even a handful or two of newly aged placeables could go a long way to improving the unlives of the unliving.

This theme was suggested by 3RavensMore.

Guidelines:

  • It must be fully working in game.

  • Use of vanilla NWN or publicly available texture is fine.  Just remember that NWN textures must have dimensions in powers of 2 (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc.).

  • Teamwork is welcome.

  • Beginners most welcome. Don't be afraid, just try, you'll be surprised!

  • "Custom Content" includes many sorts of things: models, scripts, prefabs (areas, items, creatures, conversations, quests, etc.), sounds, portraits, or anything else new for the game.

  • All submissions must be finished, working, and emailed to NWNCCCMakers@gmail.com (or a non-Vault link provided) by April 1st, 2014. Sooner than that is perfectly fine too. ;-)

Somethings you could include in the download/email that would make packaging everything up easier and faster:

  • 2da lines needed.

  • Screenshot from in game for use on the vault page (this also gives me hints on how to display the new goodie). Formats: .bmp, .jpg, .png, or .tga

  • Portraits (if needed) of your new goodie. Placeables and monsters should include a portrait.

  • Inventory icons (if needed) of your new goodie.

  • Any credits you would like listed.

  • If this is your first entry, please tell me what name you would like your work listed under and provide a link to your other NWN content if you want that displayed as well (the link bit is totally optional).

  • Also if you would like an invite to the CC Makers group, send Rolo Kipp a friend invite. The group is nothing spectacular, mostly just documentation on 2da lines.

  • If you are doing tileset content, *please* let me know ahead of time so I can get you the set and itp files to work with. I’m horrible at merging those so this bit you will need to provide.

Remember, the Challenge is all about fun, sharing, creativity, and surprise!

This thread is for all sorts of discussion about this month's theme: ideas for things to make, questions/concerns, announcement of what you intend to make, screenshots of work in progress and/or finished projects.

If you want to discuss the Monthly Custom Content Challenge idea as a whole or wish to submit ideas/themes for future monthly Challenges, please post in its thread here.
When submitting a new theme, please provide a title and short summary of the theme.

If you have a technical question about some custom content creation, please create a separate thread so that the answers can be found later by anyone, not just people interested in this Challenge. We'll try to help!

Have no fear and join the fun!

And finally, you can:

Submit theme suggestions.
Vote for April's theme.

I like that theme. And a month is enough for me to do someting. I have an old crypt tileset rework still on my HD. Maybe i can polish up what was missing and get it out the door '<img'>

I, also, hereby declare an intent for tileset-reworking. A non-replacing, "undead"-themed variant of the beholder caves tileset shall be my task, for it is handsome and shapely and also a very small tileset, and therefore I consider my chances of successfully completing it very high even though I presently have only a vague idea of how to go about doing this. If it turns out way easier than anticipated and I'm left with extra time, I can always try and add altogether new tiles to it.

Also: Do "Home destroyed by stupid adventurers; Anything helps"-signs for unfortunate undead (or other monsters) fall into this category, or should I wait for the "Why so serious?"-theme to come around (if it ever does) for that? Could be vampires or half-vampires suitable for this challenge?

Dear santa!. I wish me a crawling skeleton without the lower part. Something like this:

How about a throne of hissing vipers?...

snakes.jpg

Snakes. Why’d it have to be snakes?

Flying Fiery Serpent

Nest of Vipers

Two works in progress (Harrison Ford not included).

Hopefully the final results will be more intense than these initial sketches.

The second one will be a generalised script to create a seething mass of guardians of your choice (so, snakes, yes, but also wraiths, or whatever). I'd welcome input on what options you'd like (What action turns the guardians hostile? Any preferences on factions? and so on...).

For some ideas there are plenty of real world chapels in Europe for amazing inspiration. like the Sedlec Ossuary in the Czech Republic (source: http://en.wikipedia..../Sedlec_Ossuary) its composed of chandeliers, candelarbras, alters, doorways, hallways, & ceilings covered in real human bones.

some more pictures here:

quite possibly the most intresting building in europe by far '' ?

Anyone one of those could help spark ideas for bone alters, fire pillars, maybe alters dedicated to cyric, bone chandeliers, bone candles, femur items, etc

How come you know this place and I don't while I am from the Czech republic? '<img'>

anyway, so I dont just spam here, here is some proposal for this challenge:

- Imprison / Freedom spells

- some new trap type or trap model (I think that there is missing a solid swinging blade placeable)

- additional tiles into original crypt tileset (how come there is only one addition and thats diagonal walls hmm?)

The flying fiery serpent looks great!

Thanks! The original snake is from Vipers by Maleioch (via CEP). I just gave it wings, head height and a standard glow VFX. I'm definitely standing on the shoulders of giants here.
