There never is enough time...
Gmax is a good platform. Read the Custom Content Guide v3 first !
The process of creation is actually pretty straightforward but nomenclature is crucial. (Also knowing where all the buttons and dials are....) You will find that the folks here are very knowledgeable and will help you (or Bill) to create your visions of new content.
In order to facilitate your first statue memorial consider this:
Fire up Gmax, install the NWgmax plugin
Prepare NwnMdlComp (a decompiler)
Import and study other statues....
Locate an appropriate model (dryad, Aribeth, or other) import it.
Remove all animations
Carefully position the model (rotations), if you scale anything be sure to Reset Xforms (under the Utility panel)
Place (translation) the whole thing upon a pedestal (a tapered cylinder) using the rootdummy to move all. Texture the pedestal and all the parts (a blue marble might be nice) Not just as easy as it sounds...
Strip out all other parts nodes and hierarchy (unlink and then re-link all parts to the rootdummy)
Link the pedestal to the rootdummy and the rootdummy to an Aurora base (set to placeable)
Name it "plc_Caretaker"
Collapse all the various modifiers individually and apply an AuroraTrimesh to the group
Export with textures to a new folder
Now you have a very crude and basic placeable that could be seen in game (after appropriately editing the placeables 2da)
This recipe is a very incomplete way to create your memorial.
In no way does it address the many details that are also required. There is a learning curve
All of those bells and whistles you will have to gleen for yourself (Bill)
Read the various guides, watch free tutorials on the net, ask questions ...
but most of all have some fun with it!!
Be well
