Entirely Empty Tileset?
« on: January 23, 2014, 04:18:09 am »

Does anyone know if there is an entirely empty but walkable tileset? By which I mean: not even a floor. Just completely empty geometry, but walkable. So you can see "underneath" the characters as well as above and to the side, and so on.

I can't think of one which is entirely blank like that off the top of my head, in which case this "blank" GMax-compatible tileset by RabidGoalie could be a good starting spot.

no not to my knowledge. But you can use a very small tileset like _six peasants interior and change the "black" filler tile into what you want. Then you dont paint down a terrain or feature and you got it;)

In 3dsamx you import the filler tile (which should be an xxx_a_a00), set the walkmesh to stone and export the walkmesh only again!

The closest thing I've worked on is the flying tileset for Andarian's Sanctum series, but that still has geometry visible beneath the invisible flying area.

Honestly, what you're describing would be ridiculously easy to make.  All you're really need would be the walkmesh (which is invisible), plus an extra little hak for the building stage, with basic, visible geometry corresponding to the walkmesh.  For actually playing the module, you'd remove the extra hak.

Contrary to the name, this is exactly that.

Thanks, Six!  I was thinking about that set, but remembered falsely that the skybox was part of the set's geometry.  Of course, you are quite right.
