Luce doesn't need to breathe. Air, void, underwater, molten lava - it's all the same to her. If there's Spleens or Merry Minstrels or something that needs trampling underhoof, she'll hunt it down wherever it lurks...
Anyway, here's a closer look at Facility 13, on the ground...
Note huge atomic reactors. Not generally a good idea to engage in "all-out war" around these, but like I said - if the Spleens are there, she does not care... And a full-scale nuclear meltdown is fractionally less lethal than Luce's personal brand of Hellfire anyway.
But Hellfire's for ultimate contingencies. Mostly, she enjoys fang, claw and blade stuff. That's fun.
Anyway, Facility 13; It's the usual battle in Gmax to restrain the desire to plaster stupidly immense piles of detail into every building and keep the polycount at a level where lots of buildings can be piled into an Area to create an entire colony that won't cause hideous lag when populated with lots of Creatures and sundry other Placeables and everyone starts knocking the stuffing out of each other. Having conducted assorted tests now, I think the balance is about right - though I keep wanting to add just a few more verts for more industrial rubbish and just a few more and...
Colony landing grid with cute little set of steps which, being as it's a Placeable, can't be climbed up. Rrrrgh. But there'd be no point in creating Facility 13 as a Tileset since that would immediately limit iterations of buildings and their angles and distances to and from each other. Also, the idea is to make a set of buildings and other elements that will allow for the construction of filthy great industrial complexes within any Tileset environment. Much more versatile as Placeables.
The landing grid was primarily scaled for use with the Dropships in my ALIEN Hak since that's what'll be on it in AvD 2, but there are several other spacecraft that'll be in the Facility 13 Hak that'll also sit on it happily... and a few that won't.
Hopefully, it shouldn't be more than about a week, give or take, before all these nasty, pollution-spewing refineries and things are ready to go on the Vault. This will include a number of older Placeables, including some of the gargantuan domes and things I did for the Doctor Who Modules, as Tarot mentioned, plus some of the stuff from my Kyru series, all futuristic buildings, vehicles and big, strange, technological things, not too sure what they are. And some other stuff too.
I'm currently just finishing the retexturing on two subsets of the administration, research, dwelling and storage blocks, plus perimeter walls, from Facility 13 in a sort of shiny silver version for Kyru and a sort of evil, black, menacing version (which I'll be using for the Daleks to inhabit). This should expand the ensemble ability to create dodgy futuristic colonies absolutely anywhere at a moment's notice. Which will doubtless immediately get overrun by hostile Xenomorphs.
Actually, given all the other stuff I plan to throw in the big box for you, it's not going to be specifically relevant to ALIEN as such, so I'll probably not put it on the Alien Vault page as I planned and put it on one of its own.
