Nothing bigger than 512x512s...

And I really, really will definitely honestly have this on the Vault REALLY SOON. Honest. Promise.

Just trying to hammer an animation glitch into dust with a big brick... Damned self-disintegrating Spleens...

Lucirath at home, with a few trophies...

AvD2trophies.jpg

Luce doesn't collect trophies actually, but she or I or both of us couldn't resist...

This is rumour control, here are the facts... At 06:00 on the morning watch, Prisoner Garlic reappeared in a deranged state. Prisoners Boggs and Rains are still missing, believed Penguinomized... No, shut up, forget about that, never mind... What I meant to say was the Shabby Hyena Object apologizes for delays. I still haven't ironed out all the issues with the ALIEN3 type Alien, which isn't surprising since it's the first time I've attempted a completely new custom animation model and I keep getting distracted by other stuff. So, I think I might just cram all the other new Alien stuff that's ready in a big bag and nail it to my ALIEN page on the Vault and add the quadrupedal horror later, when I have the time to sit down and deal with it properly.

Just adding a few last minute items now, such as the Alien Skull shown here.

As I said in the last post, the ALIEN3 Alien is my first effort at a completely new animation model. So naturally it's having some difficulties. Had another brick session with it late last night and I've got it mostly sorted out, and it can now actually get into a fight without instantly throwing all its limbs away for no apparent reason (see below). However, it still isn't perfect and, having put so much work into it thus far, I want it to be COMPLETELY PERFECT, so I'm going to leave it out of the second Hak for now...

Also, annoyingly, left out for now is the "Sulaco" which is having a few practical problems as I have to rebuild it from scratch due to irreversible cretinism in Blender corrupting the near completed model beyond any hope of restoration. The death of the backup copy was entirely my own fault. But I have still got the blocked out base in gmax so the proportions and relative positions are safe and I don't have to go measuring the maquette at great length again...

Also I've got NEW Facehuggers and Chestbursters on the way and a few other twisted Xenomorphic aberrations... but if I wait until EVERYTHING is done, you'll still not have had any new Aliens come the next Ice Age, so I'm putting the second part on the Vault NOW...

Final last minute addition, the "Betty", from Alien Resurrection, which was a rubbish film and failed abysmally to live up to the Alien Trilogy, but, just in case anyone ever needs a rusty spaceship that looks a bit like a mutant fish from certain angles, I've thrown it in the Big Bag which will soon be yours. 24 hours. Guaranteed this time.

Will there be a "bursting outta chest" aline type/animation?

Eventually I hope to have a completely smooth, perfected model/anim/vfx transition for both Facehuggers attaching themselves to people and Chestbursters bursting forth unpleasantly.

Experimented a bit already but I packed it in when I started faffing with the geometry for the new Facehugger and Chestburster models for obvious reasons. However, the animations are a long way off being ready at the moment due to me not having done much with them. They won't be in this Hak - which is almost on the Vault now - but as I said, this second Hak isn't going to be the end of it. There's still lots more to add and improve.

PHoD ALIEN 2 - now available!

AvD2gar1.jpg

No, really, it is... honestly! Go and look...

http://neverwinterva...kpak/phod-alien

You've got the new Alien Warriors, new Alien Queen and XenoInfernalis.

You have a usable Pulse Rifle with sound fx.

You have Placeable Alien Skulls, alternative Space Jockey, Dropships, APCs, Powerloaders, Nostromo, Betty, Sentry Gun...

You have Alien sound fx (the generic voiceset I've been using for all the Aliens in AvD1).

And there might have been something else too, can't remember now...

Currently, with my customary inability to just do one thing at a time, I'm working on Alien vs Demoness 2 some more and thus getting more ALIEN CC done which should have gone in the New Second ALIEN Hak but, since that's already on the Vault (see above), I suppose I'll have to indulge in some sort of putridly lame updating activity of some sort at some point...

Now finished are the Improved Facehuggers and Chestbursters...

AvD2cf.jpg

The Facehugger (this one's about to get trampled underhoof by a certain curvy Infernal) is done except for its actual facehugging animation which, despite set to target head dummies, wherever they happen to be, nevertheless causes the Facehugger to rocket toward the ceiling like a debased marsupial and then remain immobile twenty feet off the ground for no good reason. But I'm dealing with that with a severe application of profoundly large bricks.

The Chestburster is a VAST improvement upon my first unspeakably rubbish effort, but bettering that noxious pile of dribble didn't exactly constitute an above average feat of modelling prowess. The so-called Chestburster in the first Hak was pathetically lame and resembled a sort of freakishly bloated nematode more than anything else. This one I actually like.

Anyway, just to assure those interested that there is still yet more ALIEN stuff to come from the Shabby Hyena Weirdo...

So you have gone for the no back-legs interpretation then? The way it moved in the 1979 movie makes me think that it had some as it didn't move in a snake-like manner. But that's your choice.

Planning an ALIEN3 type "Dogburster" or "Oxburster" (depending which version of the film you watch) but after the animation issues with the Alien3 Alien, I'm being slow and cautious with it. This should please you if - as it sounds - you don't like the "traditional" Chestbursters... Which DO NOT have any trace of rear limbs. Or at least, mine don't and they all devolve from original moulds and one of them is an original prop. Definitely no legs... So where they so suddenly sprout from on the adult is anybody's guess.

Might also do a Queen Chestburster (the prop of which I can confirm has all six limbs).

The way the one moved across the table in ALIEN, head end upright and tail lashing with a load of air bladders stuck up it, doesn't really leave much organism in contact with the surface and so probably couldn't move at all - if it didn't have Roger Dicken's hand up its bum from below the table... So, fictionally speaking, perhaps we're to assume it births complete with some small, xeno-skateboard contrivance which it later throws away when it's made good its escape... No wonder poor old John Hurt was looking uncomfortable.

This is just one of many small, perplexing questions that arise after you've watched ALIEN a thousand times...

True. That one, if I recall the one time I watched that one little bit of said film, managed to perform an entire song and dance routine so it presumably had legs of some description. But I don't think it can be counted as canonical even if John Hurt did undergo bursting a second time. What's wrong with him? The man's a Chestburster magnet or something.

Much of ALIEN vs DEMONESS 2 takes place in a remote industrial colony unimaginatively named "Facility 13" and secretly being used as a Weyland Yutani Experimental Station... The colonists are unaware that deep within their midst the Company have several live Alien specimens (which inevitably escape, as they do) and, worse still, the Spleen Company scientists are messing around with a curious artefact found in the wreckage left after events of AvD 1. This artefact is Infernal and, a few unwise and ill-planned experiments later, the Company accidentally opens a gate to Hell...

Aliens and Demons on the loose, all of them more or less the exact shapes of Spleens as far as Luce is concerned, means all out war...

But where to set this war? Coming to the conclusion that I didn't want to use a single major building Placeable I'd used before, I decided to be impractical, as usual, and build the entire Facility 13 industrial colony from scratch.

Given that you can't see entire Areas at once in-game, here's a Toolset image that should give you the basic idea...

Fac13PHoDa.jpg

Instead of a stupidly vast and inflexible town, as my first loony impulse suggested it should be and which Gmax just laughed at, I became normal and created Facility 13 as a modular set of different buildings and structures which can thus be arranged together to create... well, to create big, ugly industrial complexes. Not much else you can make with piles of colossal refineries, reactors, silos, factories and so forth...

Shall post some proper screenshots soon when I've tidied up a few loose ends and hit a few more textures with bricks.

The question is: Can you hear the Demoness breath in space? Does she even have to breath?

Maybe not, but fear it's enough to imagine it. '<img'>

So that's why you needed to know about screen grabs. Wow. Does it beat that 100m x 100m placeable you've made for one of the Dr. Who modules?
