               <pulling out his...>

My take is... Complicated.
I'd be quite thrilled to host Q on the Vault. Even more thrilled to contribute to it. But I don't, *can't* really, step up to lead it. Too many other pies warming my greedy little fingers.
I also don't think I'd be good for any review board, as I tend to see the potential of assets more than the current value.

That said leaving it all to Cervantes & Pstmarie is a recipe for burnout.

I also think that opening content to submission is *not* a recipe for disaster. This community responds quite well to polls and a "candidate" level submission process could be worked out to allow contribution the community approves to enter Q.
edit: In fact, getting into Q could be the CC equivalent of Hall of Fame status :-)

Whatever we decide to do, I hope fervently Q expansion continues and I'll put the Vault and myself solidly behind preserving and supporting Project Q.

Maybe Project Q could BECOME the CCC Challenge - or at least the platform that work is built upon. What do you think Rolo and Amethyst Dragon?

I would lean heavily towards keeping Project Q and the CCC as separate projects.

I love the stuff that the various members of the Project Q team (and other contributors) have come up with over the years.  It's some amazing work, especially on the model making, texturing, and animation.

I also love the CCC, but for different reasons.  One of the most important is that it's open to everyone from the "I just got NWN off gog.com yesterday, I want to try something" novice to the "I've got years of formal training AND experience with 3D model making/texturing" professional content maker.  New and often mismatched (in style, if not in textures/naming/etc.) content gets produced all the time.

I wouldn't want a complete novice to look at Q and be discouraged from even trying to make something new for the CCC.

I know I have given formal permission for Q (and CEP) to use any of my CCC contributions, but I wouldn't want to take the CCC works of everyone and "pass judgement" on what's high enough quality for Q and what isn't.

On a non-CCC note...thanks for putting this out for the community Pstemarie!  I for one will be starting to build some areas suitable for those fire giants right away. '<img'>  Then I'll dig into the rest of the new stuff for inspiration.

               <speaking up...>

Oh, yeah. I meant to say something similar, but got distracted.

I, also, think the CCC and Q should be quite separate. They do serve purposes towards opposite ends of the CC spectrum.

So, what the big guy said :-)

               Glad you chimed in AD! You make a lot of points I hadn't really considered. I certainly do agree that the CCC has to be open to everyone. The last thing I'd want is for people to feel restricted by the constraints of one vision of what NWN should like.

This being said it's now apparent that the CCC and Q should remain separate projects, BUT there certainly is no reason why EVERYONE can't submit material to Q for possible inclusion.

               As far as the mounts go, they use the standard horse animations when mounted. You can make an invisible creature and select a model from the tail selection. This will allow the creature to have basic animations ( walk, attack...). As far as causing lag, I'll have to double check, I thought I had compiled them, but may have missed a few. I hate the thought of no more Project Q and will help wherever I can to support it.

               I am unsure of what is being asked (or if anything is being asked) regarding ProjectQ. I understand that running it as a 'project', with continual content being either created, updated, fixed, and then integrated, that this is a time-consuming task requiring more people than a single person or even a few people. But, I suppose I'm confused as to why anyone who wanted wouldn't take 'the best' in their own mind, and 'add it' to Q by means of a separate hak with the needed data files. It seems to me what is needed most is an easy way of tracking the data used for such content: ie 2da file date, etc. A database of the available lines hosted at the Vault by Rolo, with a system whereby people as for and get a range of lines would work for this. The system could also let people know what others have integrated in those lines, and if they need to do anything other than grab that content, and copy/paste the provided data (hosted at the Vault) to update their version of Q. In other words, Jack wants to put in some placeables by JillTheMighty. He goes to the Vault and checks: nobody has included those placeables (say there are 10 of them) yet. He requests the next available lines, and receives them. Those lines are no longer available to give out. He integrates Jill's placeables, creating the needed 2da data, then returns to the Vault and posts that data and a bit of info on the stuff added. However, if he doesn't decide to use them, or if he doesn't return and post the info in a set period of time (with many allowances), those lines are instead 'taken back' as unused, and returned to the available list.
Just a thought...

               Sorry to post this here, but I can't send private messages! can the Draygoth mounts be used as regular animals? For example, the lion as a c_lion? Or is there some visual/performance issue with such?

               Visual more than anything. They all use the Horse supermodel. So while a camel, say, won't be much of an issue, the lion or other cats will all use horse-like animations

Me too - that's why I'm working on converting some of them over for use as non-mounts.

Also, whats the state of ACP today? Does it fully support cloaks now?

I missed this. I would love to get my hands on those non-mount models.
