seems the mounts dont have movement animations as creatures, either. Each model takes a very long time to load in the toolset, also.

The DG mounts have mixed up names; the model names in the 2da dont correspond to the names of the associated files. The extra textures for variant creatures are also there, but don't have their own model.

Mounts have been fixed - I should have checked Draygoth's 2da lines more closely. The missing model for the black rhino has been added. As for models for other variants - those won't be included at this time. Please remand all such requests to Draygoth.

I just included them as Draygoth designed them - they are intended as mounts, not replacement creatures for other existing models. As for the load time - the models are very high polycount. I wouldn't recommend using many of them in the same area. Perhaps Draygoth will revisit them in the future and reduce the polycount, but I can't speak for him.

For all future bug reports, please post them on the Support thread at the Project Q forums. This thread is an announcement thread - not a support thread.

Cheers

Thank you for the release Pstemarie, it is appreciated.

I have to ask though - what happened to the team?  Is/was there a recruitment drive?  I try to swing by the Q forums, but I didn't see anything about the Q team riding off into the sunset.  Is there 'help wanted' to keep this project alive?

Well, we had some members join, post a few wips then apparently move on to other things. In early September I posted notice to the team that I was stepping down as Project Lead. The only response was from _Six in November - and he isn't even an active member anymore! By mid-December it was pretty clear to me that Project Q had no active members left.

No active members = no active project. Thus, its time for Project Q to be laid down until someone comes and resurrects it. Unlike Barry - bless him, who is apparently the last remaining member of the CEP Team, I can see when its time to move on...

AND, if the CEP Team is still alive, I apologize for the premature eulogy.

Thx a bunch for this release.  I've followed Q from day one and remember well how close it was to folding even at the start when Rosencrantz quit.  Amazing we've yet another update after all these years.

I'm sorry for the issues with getting help for Q.  I'm saddened that a lot of the great contributors to the community have quit or moved on, including you.  If you're still looking for help, I would like to throw my hat in the ring.  I don't know if you still have the energy to continue or not.  I am hopeful that other members that regularly contribute (in the monthly contests or otherwise) might step up as well.

It could become something like the CCC. Different creators join every now and then following some guidelines, slowly engrossing Project Q. It could even be a more structured base to build custom content on.

@Tiberius - I haven't quit or moved on - I'm still cranking out stuff, but realistically I just don't have the time or energy left to manage a project the scope of Q. I think its awesome that you want to get involved and the Q Team (myself) is glad to see someone step forth.

@Master Jax - Now there is a fresh idea that merits some exploration. After all, Project Q was created for the Community, so why not turn the reins over to the Community? Maybe Project Q could BECOME the CCC Challenge - or at least the platform that work is built upon. What do you think Rolo and Amethyst Dragon?

The more I think about Jax's idea, the more I like it. Let the Community submit content, find bugs, and fix them. Let the Community manage Project Q and lead it in whatever direction THEY wish to take it.

The last words said to me by Project Q's last departing original member were "I guess the Q is your's now." Well, guess what, Project Q is the Community's - we just need to pick it up and run with it...

As the Q is all about quality and the ccc is about encouraging people to take part I can see a conflict of interest. I know that I won't be contributing as I don't see what I do as being in the same universe (nevermind same planet) quality wise, as what you guys did for Q. I wish you well though.

I like the idea of Project Q being used by more of the community, but am unconfortable with the lack of quality control that would come from a lack of leadership.

Q is a great compilation to build off of because it is well organized, selective, and full of work primarily made for Q.

Yeah, quality control would be an issue. You could put a review board in place, but how do you determine who sits on that panel?

Essentailly, the crux of the issue is that Q fans want Q to remain as it is. However, there is no one who has yet come forth with the inclination or time to be leader. People have offered to help, which is great, but in order for Q to thrive it needs a dedicated team of modelers with the time to contribute on a regular basis.

As for Q quality - in reality, its not so much the geometry that sets the standard for Q but the texturing and the use of a fairly uniform and limited color palette. We're all artists here and I think we all have pretty high standards. I'm confident that Q wouldn't become bloated with sub-Q quality content. Instead, I think such an endeavor might just reveal how talented a community we have.
