Changes in facial expression and face colour.
Blinking/ closed eyes.
'Shavable facial hair'  (probably applies to human males only).
Earrings - other visible jewelry.
Halos  (both the 'ring above the head' and the 'light shining around the head' ones.)
Flies buzzing around the head.
Flowers in hair and flower crowns.
Sea weed and sea-stuff in hair.

Some of those require precise shape and alignment that simply cannot work with the variety of *default* heads, let alone the CC heads we've added, as I found out with the Burnedout eyes vfx. It works well with *some* heads and not at all with others.
Unless someone (else!) does a complete revamp of heads to standardize their size and shape (and position of the blasted origin - I'm glaring at you, Mr Elven Male!), expression, blinking, 5 o'clock shadow and earrings will be custom effects for specific heads. :-P
The rest look very doable :-)

Hm.... a proper looking, animated mermaid tail could be nice too, but that'd be grappling with things from a totally different end. '<img'>

This is either a tail or robe (and I personally think it needs to be a robe), and so passes out of this story :-)

Mmmm... maybe my ambient npcs can finally get covered by a blanket that matches the one in the tileset.

What would that have to be?...  a ground aligned VFX?

Yup, so the effect would face the right direction.
Which blanket? Tile reference? Screenshot?

OK Rolo you win some and you lose one. You can use anything that I've made for vfx except micro maps as the vfx part is essential for that package and doesn't really work without the package. This includes the speech bubbles I did for the ccc a while ago.

Not ignoring your question Rolo... just thinking.... the ideal would be a texture that would pass without close inspection in twc03,tin01,tni02.   With a model for the VFX that was kinda friendly to taking a new texture for the
module builders using custom tile sets. Or something like the green/white blankets of the tni01 tileset.

Some of those have been done (Carcerian's glasses, for example), but all are good suggestions.

We should get Carcerian in here to complete those. He typically just did human for the VFX. Someone needs to make it usable for all.

In my view, a Head Aligned VFX included in this project should apply to all PC races and genders. Or at least be padded so that it is easy to add the other entries when they show up.

No prob... except for reserving space for the MapMats in the visualeffects.2DA. Where did you put them and can you shift them to 7000 or some higher block? Alternately, I'll shift the whole bloody thing up to accomodate MM, but I need a range to work around...

I'd forgotten how much you used vfx.2da ;-P

My intention is to just recycle the tileset texture, not add a new one (or dozen) as most of them are ok. The model will be easy enough to retexture if the new map is layed out the same as the default textures.

Green & white is fine.
All these things are on a "please jump in and contribute" basis. If it's all left to me, it'll take a while :-)

<Thinks...> When am I going to learn to keep my mouth shut... sigh

Seeing as how it's always drove me nuts to see to see NPC's sleeping on the floor beside a perfectly good bed.

Also as how  I was dumb enough to suggest they might need a blanket!

Pencil me in for the VFX blankets so they don't freeze to death, although if someone else just has to take it on I sure won't stand in thier way!

Oh well... plenty of test subjects in my module after night fall if they aren't at the tavern getting blind drunk.

Great job here, I can't wait to see what everyone makes. You should check the vfx items on sinfar before making things like glasses and horns, so we don't duplicate designs.

Here's my original request on a different thread. Since you're doing torso aligned vfx I'd like to see some corsets or stylish belts too. Would images to reference be a help?

Jenna WSI wrote...

It would be great to have the following if anyone is inclined

-Elf ears
-Tiefling horns (from the model with horns on the side of the head)
-Long braid (http://fc08.devianta...uri-d603elg.jpg)
-Jewelry / Piercings
-Headband
-Hats (Cowboy hat, tophat, stetson, beret, coolie, victorian, etc)

               <waffling...>

Pretty hard to do some things, like take away existing ears or waistlines :-P

Not so hard to add ears to a head without, but add them to a head with the wrong ears already on? Or make a corset slimming. We could do one that was *fatter* than the original torso, but *thinner*? It would have to be a bodypart, really.

The rest I do plan to get to, with the limitations I mentioned above about applying them to a range of head shapes (jewelry in particular will be limited in the heads they fit).

Re Sinfar: Sinfar has a lot of things I'd like :-) But, afaik, it hasn't been released to the community, so I don't know how I can use them in this project.
Unless they are willing to contribute, of course ;-)

how are you guys modifying the effects to work with other races? Can this be done via NWNArmory or some notepad edit? Because if it does more peoples could help with this. If not, I guess I can only grant a moral support :innocent:
