High Elven City Tileset

No not what I mean't dear lady just to use as a transition from treetop tileset to the forest tileset placing an elevator tile which one could place in the forest tileset as well a tileset transition door so to speak. No treehouses in the forest tilest or such oh lord no a wokmesh nightmare I know, just merely a way to transition from one tileset to another. You must get to the treetops somehow from another tileset and the most likely canidate being the forest tileset.

cervantes35, I don't want to sound rude but does an elevator really sound like something elves would use?

No you are not rude i just thought that treetop elves would like to keep there platform city somewhat secret to the general nasty critters in the forest such orcs, goblins and such. A large staircase in the woods coming down just seems a little to inviting for an invasion.

It was only an idea of a single tile quick transition to another tileset. It is Estelindis tileset and if she wants stairs then stairs it shall be i have no qualms with what she wants at all, I am just throwing out ideas.

Hmm, I see.  I could make a matching stairs for forest tilesets, but an elevator might even work as a placeable, which could put it in any tileset.  I'll give it a think.  Thanks for explaining.

Well that makes sense I guess, I just cant think how to make a mechanism like an elevator look like it was made by a culture who use magic and nature to do everything. Perhaps if it somehow looked like the elevator was moved up and down magically rather than mechanically?

When talking elves, I'd just assume they'd use portals to get up and down places, as portals are basically elevators you don't need to build the inbetween bits for

Magic is fun, of course, but I would really appreciate seeing a low magic (i.e. mechanical) solution too. If visualising it is the challenge - I can try to make some sketches.

Portals don't feel right for elves either. It's kind of the standard that portals are made by ancient powerful races to which there will never be an equal...

Actually that makes me want a 2/2 ancient portal in this Tileset.

i always thought of elves to be more in-tuned to nature. anything from natural stairs, and archways, to ropes for the more wilder elves

in my pw project i developed about three different types of elves. a tree top warrior society similar to lotr elves, a vulcan (star trek for any who dont know) magic society that are abit like buddhas (they live high in mountains), and a wild elf culture who prefer to live wherever that suits them.

just some ideas to throw out there ''

That's what I was thinking, naturally forming stars and architecture. The previous point of attacks is relevant too though. Perhaps what we want is an invisible staircase and a door that builds the staircase from vines when opened. That's a pretty complex animation job though.

That's rather similar to my project which has City Elves, Tree Elves, Plains Elves, Dessert Elves, River Elves and Dark Elves. All with Swedish names in the module though. That's why earlier on I requested the inclusion of buildings partially on the water.

I'm sure everyone here is hoping for things for elves besides tree elves at some stage.

Yes indeed!  I just don't see much point in turning to different versions of the set until I get the first one out the door.  '<img'>

I don't expect you to. In all honesty I actually, for some reason, expected you to try and cram it all in this one. Rather dumb. Just finish the tree elf city and decide for yourself what's next. I've enjoyed what's already released (although I'd like if the hall and building terrains could be connected together).

I'll make it so that the hall crosser can meet the building terrain.  Definitely a goal.  '<img'>
