               Evenin'.

Title summarizes it. I'm retexturing the basegame heads (as seen on the NWVault), and a downloader has recently hit a snag with the installation via the override folder - the updated head textures in the old Bioware texturepack are overriding my overrides.

I'm putting together a new readme file, and want to make sure I'm not missing any potential workarounds/fixes. Am inclined to tell people to preload the replacement textures as a .hak file via the nwnpatch.ini. The helpful help-seeking downloader who notified me of this issue is an online player, so I'm looking for some info on whether or not hak preloading can cause problems in online gameplay - I have no experience whatsoever in that matter. I've since tried it on some open servers, and it seems to work fine, but yeah... call me paranoid, but I figure I'd best ask before potentially getting innocent people in trouble - there seems to be some controversy about the possibility of cheating by preloading haks, and I've no idea whether steps have been taken to prevent/prosecute it.

Deleting the entries for the standard heads in the .erfs of the texturepack also seems to work, but I think I probably shouldn't encourage people to mess with them. Something unexpectedly screws up and bam, corrupt file, no backup made... seems a tad too much potential hassle just to get a handful of replacement textures working, and more complicated than preloading a .hak file that's already prepackaged for them to boot.

So, yeah. :3 If anybody's got the experience with this and a moment's time, I'd much appreciate it. Are there other workarounds I haven't found? Does hak preloading cause problems in online gameplay? Can I safely advise people to preload the textures?
