Nice piece of machinery.  What size are these things?  The monster manual pages never really showed the clockwork horrors next to anything in particular for a sense of scale, and I'm just curious.

Me, I tend to use the standard BioWare bandit as my go-to stand in for "this is how big (or small) the new stuff is".

I was actually considering doing clockwork horrors for a few minutes, then decided that I would make the scavvers instead.  I'd reskinned a shark model years ago ("I can do that again easy..."), and had a handy eyeball texture (from Jan. CCC) to work from already, so figured it wouldn't be much work (I was just a bit mistaken on this part, damned skinmeshes).

               <tinkering...>

Currently they're about co ckerspaniel size, which seems small to me. They are also difficult to see in the Fort Interior tileset :-P
pic
I'm thinking of both scaling them up and letting Cestus touch them up with a bit of visible machinery and some illuminated bits.

Yeah, skinmesh and dangly mesh and animesh can all act squirrelly at times :-P
I never did figure out how to stop The Damned's eyes from twisting sideways in combat... Nor why tinkering with an animating far down the chain completely borked Baba Yaga's Hut's *second* anim :-/

One day I'll go back and finish them...

Size says they're supposed to be 2 feet lengthwise, and their legs can stretch out to 4 feet long. So maybe a bit larger

Is it just the one Horror or are all versions there? Could just be done by reskins

I prepared an excel sheet containing spelljammer items for my combat system. It is based on the old Turn Based Combat system but I added many new items and variety. (In weapons list those with yellow background are new items

Im posting this as I need help deciding some values/properties. Also if you think there should be more parameters let me know. It is also intented as a resource for making icons representing these item, I think Yollo eee Rollo named them JamMiscs.

Will be glad if you also bring new weapons, crew, inventory.

               ShaDoOow:

I think for ballistic missiles (from catapults), there's no reason for a minimum range in space.  Once a projectile leaves a ship's air envelope (a split second after it's fired), gravity ceases and the projectile moves in a straight line.

A catapult can fire straight out if it has something to stop the swing movement.  A trebuchet would fire upward at an angle though.

The heavy dual ballista's BAB should probably be the same as the heavy ballista (like it is with medium & dual medium ballista).  I'd say same should go for the light version.

Oh, I forgot to mention that my combat system is amphibious, or actually considering underwater, more and I currently testing this on sea ''.

But good point, totally forgot that a physics rules for space still applies in nwn *SpellJammer.

AD I personally wouldn't put a trebuchet on board ship (with the outside possibility of a Giff vessel - if they are mad enough to take up half the length of a ship with a humungous bombard...) due to its footprint. Whereas the tightly wound rope type of catapult requires a lot less room.

Updated the dual ballista BAB, added telescope into inventory and added new list containing ships and their properties, all are unset so far, any takers?

I am wondering just how hard it could be to increase the size of the standard Bioware penguin to 4 foot high and add a harness that crosses its chest and has a couple of pouches attached? Also what height (to the top of the shoulders) were those flying pigs that AD made for an earlier challenge. Are they more or less or equal to 3 foot tall? I ask because with these subtle changes there would be a couple of spelljammer creatures created. The 4 foot tall penguin with a harness would be a Dohwar (pictured in the inspirationals thread), and the flying pigs would become their trusty mounts, the Space Swine (now added to the inspirationals).

Scaling up a penguin would be relatively easy.  Adding a harness, also not too difficult.

Not sure of the height on the winged pig model.  I just took a pig that I found in the CEP haks and added a wing node, because it hadn't been done before (and really should have '<img'>).

Or maybe add a wing node to the standard bioware dire boar increasing the size of that piggy to 3 foot high at the shoulders. Of course there is a fly in the ointment here because Dohwar are also encountered trying to pass themselves as short demi humans by wearing an all covering cloak with a large hood. Unfortunately, the beak sticking out the front sort of ruins the illusion.

               <making...>

This is the sort of thing I had in mind for the Spelljammer Crew.
'Posted
(in this case a pirate crew of rank 1)

Icon is 7x5, which is the size of containers, so one JamCrew will fill one page of a container inventory. They should be stackable, by type and rank.
I have the source gimp (xcf) image with the ranks in 4 layers and the base image as background, so making new icons is simply a matter of scaling and cropping decent pics.

That said, I'm feeling the crunch and not going to make any more icons, so it'd really be cool if someone else jumped in :-)

Edit: Altered icons to 2x3 to better suit :-)

A snippet from the images thread:

"This is a Dohwar. A race of intelligent penguin like birds that are merchants. Their prices are a little bit higher than that of the Arcane (or the competition as they refer to them). They keep winged pigs (called Space Swine, AD's flying pigs fit) as battle steeds."

.... Why do you guys like Spelljammer, again? Just based off that one thread, I can go on and on for probably two hours, and I am sure that's not touching even the surface of Spelljammer!~

Either way, as for the content; pretty cool!

Dusty that is like asking why do you like NwN. There are so many reasons that I'll only skim the surface. Imagination that is out there (pun intended). When tsr decided to go with a space based swords and sorcery expansion, the gloves came off. The only rules were what they came up with themselves. Hence you have large numbers zoomorphic ships, creatures that look like penguins but behave like ferengi, etc.

It is based in the prime material plane. So while potentially infinite, it is in practice very much finite. Then there is the humour. The likes of Jeff Grubb and Ed Greenwood didn't take everything too seriously (hi Dark Sun), As can be seen in the following snippet from the Giant Space Hamster Monstrous Compendium entry.

Then (to misquote the current (but not for much longer) Dr. Who) space is cooool!!! So in closing (and to misquote the 1970's UK Band 10cc) - I don't like Spelljammer... I LOVE it.
