Odd little puzzler
« on: August 25, 2013, 07:49:44 pm »

                <trying to see...>

Organizing my texture library I came across 5 textures from the OC:
'Posted
These are the first 4:
  • h_f_fp_bbn
  • h_f_fp_evl
  • h_f_fp_hly
  • h_f_fp_pnk
There is also a h_m_fp_hly.

My question is... where are these used? And I can figure bbn is barbarian and evl is evil and hly is holy, but what is pnk? Punk? Pink?

Edit: They alsmost look like helmet maps... but *skin-tone* helmets?

Anyone know the scoop?

<...how the pieces fit>

               h = human
f = female
fp = face plate
bbn = barbarian
evl = evil
hly = holy aka priest
pnk = pink

the m = male in the other texture you referenced.

These are artifacts from pre-release and relate to nodes that were eliminated from the animation dummies. You'll also find some artifact models for hair and beards in there if you look closely enough.

               <tilting his head...>

I can almost see it. Very odd, though.

Even odder is that they didn't use these textures, but made higher-rez dds versions for the texture paks!

I think there must be more to it, somehow.

They are such odd textures, and they obviously don't map to the same geometry. Now I need to find the models they map to.

Thanks for the rundown, though.
