Same old but different!
« on: June 23, 2013, 04:46:17 am »

First off, I want to apologize for posting so many new threads that are so short-lived because of how easy it is to answer the little questions. I know it may seem as if the topics aren't really relevant enough to create a new thread, but given the sites' new rules about messaging and my very own technological problems regarding sending private messages and adding friends (I can't do either), I can only resort to asking things openly. Now, surely the community is now familiar with Toro's work on the rural tileset and the great Biorural he and Zwerkules put together not so long ago. In it, lots of great updates and fixes may be found, but what is of particular note is how they "de-hollowed" buildings by adding new planes to fill in the gaps.

It seems the original developers didn't account for people zooming the camera far enough, and didn't bother doing this themselves, so it is a most welcome fix! I could go on and on about how much this has done for the game in my opinion, but my question here is if such a thing has been done with other tilesets before. Zwerk already took care of this in his impressive Bioforest, but I was wondering if there is something similar for the city, desert, crypts, etc. tilesets?

As usual, thanks in advance for any info you may share! '<img'>

i know that nwncq has roofs for crypts and castle interior and that "hardpoints" who did the dungeons&dragons V2 mod or so (the one with all the dragons) worked on sewer roofs.

Unfortunately those gaps that show at a low camera angle are not fixed in NWNCQ. There are plenty more gaps in the roofs it adds.

Agreed! I have used both NWNCQ and Hardpoint's work extensively, and ultimately chose to replace them with Zwerk's interior models because of this! Unfortunately, it seems "addition" used to be more in demand than "fixing" back in those projects. It seems only Zwerk has ever addressed these issues.

Don't forget about all the lovliness that is the CTP - especially cave ruins. I know that, that one has definitely got ceilings. I'm not too sure about the other tilesets there, as I tend to play zoomed out as far as I can go.

Oh, I already have that one installed, Tarot! Thanks for the mention! However, even that wonderful addition misses the whole gap fix we were talking about! ^ ,^ What I meant is if this particular issue has been addressed in any other work. As I mentioned, Zwerkules did a great job with the forest and rural tilesets, but it seems those are the only entries including such fix.
